Yes but the Camera kernel libs are not open-source, and it's being worked on by FXP team. SE only release the parts of kernel code as open-source that are required by law; they have all their own chrome on top of it. Until then, you are better off using the kanged CM7 build from M&M.

Woohoo new version of kCernel! Is there a reason you use SmartassV2 instead of ScavagedZen Mao? I have never really noticed any difference.... I think maybe ScavagedZen is a bit friendlier on battery life but not as responsive. Not sure, there's not much information on it.

Yes,ScavagedZen is much more friendly on battery life

and,like I said,I play game a lot

so SmartassV2 have a better responses,but not that good to battery

so you may choose the governors that suit yourself

:D hope this can help

Regardless, this is all off topic.... it's not M&M Team's fault, nor FXP's fault, but you will have to wait until a further FXP development to fix this Camera issue. Or, use the new KANG'd CM7 build from M&M Team if you want crazy camera resolution with performance on a phone that's over two years old ;)

Personally, I prefer to use my smartphone for other things so I chose MIUI over CM7. It's your choice friends, that's the beauty of Android :)

Sorry if this is a stupid question but could the KANG'd CM7 be used as a basis for a fully working (ie camera) MIUI?

which kanged cm7 ?

1. miui can actually be compiled from source as it is open source now...based on fxp's cm7 sources...but frankly speaking... no one here other than fxp, bin4ry, spaarc etc are experienced enough to compile from sources

2. when we can so easily port miui on cm7, why take all the pain on compiling....

3. camera is not a rom issue... we need compiled libcamera.so file...which fxp is already working on... and we'll have it soon if we are patient

I've learnt a great deal of patience with the X10...as we all have I think!!!!!

All devs have done an AMAZING job given the barriers.

Good idea champ, we will talk on the kernel in your kernal thread from now on.

The kang'd build of CM7 is the new one from M&M Team, I linked to it in my post a few back but it's right here - http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1609399. It could have MIUI over it but it would be very difficult. Here's why.

MIUI is only partially opensource, many components are still closed. From the MiCode instructions, to port to unofficial devices like our X10 you need to use PatchROM which still has to be based on an existing official MIUI build - for example, this M&M MIUI is based on one for the N1. As far as I know, it also needs to be based on the CyanogenMod source (in our case, FXP - and unofficial port of CyanogenMod). Some of it is compiled, but most of the hardcore system stuff is prebuilt either by MIUI or - in our case - FXP. The CM7 build from M&M seems to have a lot of small problems still, and it is difficult to fix because it is 100% kang'd and nothing built from FXP sources.

So really, when you think about it - M&M MIUI is amazing for being this fast and stable for us. It is an unofficial MIUI port based on an unofficial CyanogenMod7 port :D and this build is also KANG'd! But it's done well thanks to FXP, the MIUI community and the M&M team ;)

With that said, FXP project is going very well and stronger than ever and since MiCode creation two months ago we continue to see more and more parts of MIUI released into open source. But many things are still not open. Regardless, things are looking good for our beloved X10 :)

And we will see V7 of M&M's MIUI very soon, do not worry ;)

EDIT: Hey Mao, the new kernel is great... I am using the one with the M&M logo, but it is displayed corrupted - distorted and skewed. Might want to double check the resolution and bit-depth I think?

Hi everybody,
I´ve updated the first post with the new KCernel V4.
Because I wasn´t sure if box.net handles it in a similar way like dropbox and ban the account temporarily when too many ppl download a file I uploaded it on Mediafire.

Can't we just take those camera libs from kanged cm7.2 and use them with mm team miui rom?

I tried twice and I get a bootloop. I have baseband 71, unlocked bootloader, FXP115 7.2 kernel etc.
Now I'm getting back to MIUI Prime 2.1.20 by oodie. Maybe I'll try again tomorrow.

very nice rom! but, i think i found few bugs about install the rom with cwm5, and mange it that i got it work now. also, i am getting error from the wifi and i need help to get the wifi work! :( plz help!

Nice rom, but I`m having FC with camera, takes a picture or video and after I got a FC, then close the app, and when I try to open again it says:

Camera Error

Cannot connect to Camera

So I have to reboot again the X10 to have access to the camera...

Its ok Mao, relax! Hehe new kernel is great and thanks for those tips, SmartassV2 and SIO = Wow fastest X10 ever! Now I just got to get those CPU options integrated into MIUI System tab ;)

No, do NOT use Camera fix. There are two cameras, MIUI Camera has error. Use other Camera icon, the FXP one = OK :)

If using kCernal v4 you must flash new v4 Wifi modules also with new kernel.

EDIT: ICS concept theme hmm.... is this for MIUI 2.x or new ICS MIUI only? This is not ICS ROM :)

    Since it has become pretty quiet on the MIUI front for X10 maikinho10, me and later on M&Mao started to build our own MIUI ROMs based on FXP CM7.2.
    I guess we don´t have to tell you what an amazing work FXP is doing for this device. So we thought this CM7.2 ROM is a great base for the in generell speedy MIUI ROMs and could give us all a pretty fast experience.
    The results are from now on the M&M ROMs which we try to support as good as possible and which we try to update every week with the latest FXP/MIUI version.
    So feel free to ask any questions. We hope you´ll be satified with our support ;)

    Because MIUI is so amazingly and easily customisable for everybody we decided to leave the look stock MIUI.

    Installation

    • Detailed Install Guide
    • don´t be scared of this long guide. Summarised it doesn´t differ from usual installations. But we want to avoid problems and bugs which reasons are based on wrong installations. So short form:
    • Flash the proveded v4 kernel and add the ROM.zip on your sd card
    • make at least one factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, cache partitition
    • install the ROM

      Keep in mind:
      Please just report any problems after you did the following:
      • you followed the instructions one by one
      • especially you did a clean install and wipped everything
      • you didn´t restore any data with Titanium Backup

    • Added some new build.prop settings that should help with 3G(+) and A-GPS connections
    • New Automatic HWLED Fix. Do NOT flash any of the old enable/disable ZIP's or you will ruin the ROM!
    • You have to reboot once (1 more time after first boot) for the HWLED patch to be enabled
    • Removed the option to turn on Automatic Brightness (after a reboot) because it does nothing for our X10's hardware-tied ambient light sensor and changing them is dangerous due to the new Auto HW-LED Fix
    • Removed TelocationProvider app and database, this eats network and cpu and is a data miner only useful for Emergency services in PRC. It also made GPS more responsive in our own tests.
    • Aroma installer updated to 2.00 with new theme and bugfixes. Should help with a lot of problems!
    • 3G+/HSPA values added to build.prop
    • Please test 3G data connection and speeds, let us know if it's better or worse than v7
    • Added some missing English translations for Contacts
    • Removed Extended Settings integration as it was causing issues and many users don't like it
    • Use the new Addon Manager ZIP to install or remove it from now on
    • Default theme's lockscreen reverted to v6's one (better)
    • Emoji fonts added
    • Needs testing. Make sure you are using a messaging app (and cellular provider) that supports Emoji!
    • Addon Manager for v7.1 used to add/remove Google Play Store Unlimited, BEATS+xLoud and Extended Settings
    • If you have Extended Settings installed and do a data wipe, run the addon remover
    • Renamed the default ringtone (naughty words!)
    • Default date format changed from American crap to dd-MM-yyyy
    • You can of course always change this in Settings, and Extended Settings even more

    FAQ MM TEAM V7

    [Q] Sometimes when I turn the screen off manually (i.e. pressing the power button) the LED lights on the buttons stay on
    [A] A strange glitch that appears when the Auto HWLED Fix is working, seems to sort itself out after a while. Just turn the screen back on and let it turn the display off automatically, it should be OK after that. If you notice that it comes back or does not go away after a day or two, please report it!

    [Q] Adding a second Google account erases the first one
    [A] This has been reported but we have not been able to fix this yet. Sorry!

    [Q] Multitasking sucks!
    [A] Delete the Lagfree init.d script (or customize it if you dare) and modify the dalvik vm values in build.prop to something lower. This will be hopefully be worked on a bit better in next release or via a hotfix, but it's tricky because this is how we get such a fast ROM.

    [Q] GPS still doesn't sync well
    [A] First lock can take to 30-60 seconds, after that it should be OK. If not, verify that you have a valid data connection to get A-GPS information from your provider. If this still doesn't help, use "GPS Status" from the Market / Play Store to manually retrieve A-GPS Data. If it STILL doesn't help, change the NTP Server to something else (via MiUI "Location" settings) - your provider probably doesn't use the XTRA A-GPS technology and you have to use an old-school NTP server for your region/country.

    [Q] I can't change Advanced brightness levels in Display!
    [A] This is intentional because (1) They are useless for the X10 (the ambient light sensor is tied directly to hardware) and also (2) changing the values are dangerous to the new Automatic HW-LED Fix.

    HW LED FIX FOR V6!! (Thanks Cobrato for his workaround!!!Great Guy!!)

    Follow our steps!


    • Flash the rom
    • Boot into MM TEAM ROM V6
    • Change the Custom settings for Screen brightness issue ( Display settings >> Advanced mode >> Use Custom >> Set to 20!!! )
    • Check the screen turning off work properly as it shout be!
    • Then flash ENABLE HW LED V6 Patch via CWM.
    • Reboot and you'll see it works..:)
    • Don't try to Edit custom levels again or you'll end up at a bootloop!!!
    • If you end in a Bootloop, flash this MM TEAM Fix via CWM. Thats it!

      ENJOY

    GPS FIX (if anyone has Errors)

    For USERS with Errors, you should change the file gps.conf with

    NTP_SERVER=fr.pool.ntp.org
    XTRA_SERVER_1=http://xtra1.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
    XTRA_SERVER_2=http://xtra2.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
    XTRA_SERVER_3=http://xtra3.gpsonextra.net/xtra.bin
    SUPL_HOST=supl.google.com
    SUPL_PORT=7276

    in /system/etc/gps.conf

    To do this,
    1. create a text file with those info above (remember: name it "gps.conf" and not "gps.conf.txt"
    2. copy it to the sd card.
    3. Through root explorer, go to /system/etc/ and move the "gps.conf" to a folder in the sd-card else the folder where is the new "gps.conf".
    4. Then from the sd-card and move the new "gps.conf" to /system/etc/.
    5. Clic on 'Mount R/W' to activate Read and Write permission. 'Mount R/O' will now be visible.
    6. Hold on "gps.conf" and select "Permissions". Select only all the left column (Read: Owner, group, Others) and the middle column (Write: Owner), the rest shall be unselected.
    7. After that, clic on OK. Then reboot.

    It shall be ok. It works fine for me.

    Download and open the APP CPU SPY and look if the phone is in the deep sleep.
    If not please RESTART and go into CWM Recovery and perform wipe partition and wipe Dalvik Cache!

    ABOUT MiUI MUSIC APP
    Have you Problems with Freeze/FC`S etc..please do one of the following or both:
    Disable the EQ (Press the menu button from within the MIUI MUSIC APP and press "Disable EQ"), or..

    Install Guide PLEASE follow it exactly or you WILL have problems! Yes it is long and you do need to read, but those are the facts... be safe and not a cowboy ;)

    (1) Install .71 Baseband (link) with newest Flashtool (link) - you may use another baseband at your own risk but there is no support, we only test (because we only have) on Baseband 2.1.71 X10i

    (2) After Flashtool says "Disconnected" then "Reconnected in Flash Mode", REMOVE CORD and BATTERY and wait ten seconds!

    (3) Reinsert Battery. Install M&M Team kCernel (link) via Flashtool (You may use FXP Kernel at your own risk but please
    do not report bugs - many users have said kCernel works best especially with X10a and/or basebands lower than .71)

    (4) After Flashtool says "Disconnected" then "Reconnected in Flash Mode", REMOVE CORD and BATTERY and wait ten seconds!

    (5) Reinsert Battery. Switch phone on, enter recovery by pressing back when purple LED appears.

    (6) Enter Clockworkmod Recovery 5, copy ROM to microSD, and install. Follow the prompts in Aroma to install.

    (7) When asked to Reboot, select NO. Make sure the Aroma installer does not Freeze, or exit with "Status (0)" message.
    If it does, you must reboot recovery and install AGAIN until it says "successful" or whatever without error message!
    If you still get an error message, try formatting all partitions and do it again. This is some kind of bug in CWM
    or Aroma that we cannot fix but it will work eventually if you keep trying. Just make sure you get that "Installation Complete" message! VERY important!
    (8) Flash kCernel Wifi modules v4 (link). If you need Unlimited Market for other country apps or to fix purchase error, flash that too (see bottom of this post)

    [NOTE] Do NOT flash the HWLED FIX or Extended Settings for v6. They are both updated and integrated and will destroy the ROM!

    (9) Reboot Phone. Let the ROM settle for a bit, a few minutes is OK. Then Reboot AGAIN to enable HWLED Fix and other tweaks.

    (10) If you have an error with a certain app from a backup, please try uninstalling it (not just clearing data!) and reinstall
    from Market or APK. Then, and ONLY then if there is still a bug, crash or WLOD; please report it to us!

    (11) When reporting bugs, please only report them if you are using our kCernel FTF and STOCK clock speeds! If you have flashed
    many ROM's, you may need to go back to Stock 2.3.3 FTF with Flastool to clear out some "junk". I myself had to do it twice
    while working on v7 of this ROM to get out of a bootloop no matter what I did! So please, to be sure - flash 2.3.3 official
    and your bootloader will remain unlocked - then after flashing 2.3.3 start from Step (1) in this guide!

    ProTip - If apps restored from Titanium Backup act strange, change the method of restore to INDIRECT. It is slower but seems to
    work much better ;)




    After-Install Recommended Tips -

    (1) Open the Firewall app (via menu in Phone) and check the settings. Disable all the blocking and filtering!

    (2) Open the Monitor app and turn off "Monitor Data" if you don't want it for a tiny increase in performance ;)

    (3) Check out the new "Performance" menu in Settings > System ;D


    FAQ for v7

    [Q] Adding a second Google account erases the first one
    [A] This has been reported but we have not been able to fix this yet. Sorry! Please report it if fixed or still broken in latest version

    [Q] GPS still doesn't sync well
    [A] First lock can take to 30-60 seconds, after that it should be OK. If not, verify that you have a valid data connection to get A-GPS information from your provider. If this still doesn't help, use "GPS Status" from the Market / Play Store to manually retrieve A-GPS Data. If it STILL doesn't help, change the NTP Server to something else (via MiUI "Location" settings) - your provider probably doesn't use the XTRA A-GPS technology and you have to use an old-school NTP server for your region/country.

    [Q] I can't change Advanced brightness levels in Display!
    [A] This is intentional because (1) They are useless for the X10 (the ambient light sensor is tied directly to hardware) and also (2) changing the values are dangerous to the new Automatic HW-LED Fix.

    [Q] When I try to buy something from the Play Store, I get "An error occured. Please try again." or some other error
    [A] Install the Vending-Unlimited-UpdateBlocked.zip. Clear data for Play Store and Google Services Framework, or better to do Factory Reset in CWM Recovery (or install from fresh).

    Vending v3.5.16 Unlimited [Removes all country restrictions]
    If you get "An error has occured. Please try again." when trying to purchase apps, you need this! It is also blocked from updating itself (and blocking country restrictions again) with the newest method ;)
