Downgrade from 4.0.2.A.0.62 to 4.0.2.A.0.42

download 4.0.2.A.0.42 ftf file then flash it with flashtool

U can't update without loosing root

Download Wotan server you can flash it to what ever firmware you want

Hello. I'm new at this great forum. Excuse my english, I'm from Spain. Several days trying to solve my problem, reading at google, forums, etc. This is the matter:
I bought recently an Xperia ray, bootloader blocked, updated to 4............62 Then, I realised that this firmware cannot be roouted. So I`ve downloaded previous firmwares, 042 and 058 and tried to flash via flashtool so as to revert my 062 firmware to those 042 or 058. ut there is no way to flash. I start flashing win the phone switched off and ge this message:

However, I previously put USB debugging on, for sure.

Then, I tried conecting USB cable with the phone switched on, and get this message:

After that, no further actions, and no flash done. I dont know what else i can do. Help, please. I also tried using different usb ports, with no result.

You have to unlock your bootloader first AFAIK.

Bazonga, thanks for answering, but there's no need to unblock bootloader . We can flash and update or downgrade firmware with bootloader blocked.
Eventually, I was able to solve my problem. I downgraded to 042 firmware using wotanserver. I was doing one thing wrong: Not putting phone on flashmode correctly. Then, I pushed volume down button when plugging usb and it worked fine.

Basicly what you mean is that i can flash stock 0.42 from stock 0.62 with wotanserver , just like that and no harm to the phone will be done?

two way to flash via Flashtools when the phone is not boot from flashmode.

1- sutdown phone ,and hold volume down and insert usb to pc when requested
2-Start PC Compagnon, when the phone reboot in flashmode(green led) stop PC Compagnon and start flashtools .

Right. That's exactly what I did. You can do it with wotanserver or flashtool.
Now, I have 042 and root.

can anybody! please! show me download link of .42 ftf? for flashing with flashtool on locked bootloader? thanks in advance!

i'm also interested in this method. does anyone know how?

Today i downgraded my Xperia Ray. I've had .62 firmware preinstalled, locked bootloader and zregrush root method failed.
Downgrade was made via Wontan Server, you must tick 'advanced' checkbox and manually select firmware. I used .42 and it flashed without a single problem
Now I've rooted phone with CWM and unlocked bootloader (testpoint method).
