Use button savior from the market...it won't change button mapping, however it gives you onscreen buttons..

There's an app in the market that changes hardware keys but I can't remember the name of it for the life of me... Go try soft keys (in the market) though it'll give you home, menu and other buttons on your screen

Edit: found the link to the hardware key remaper! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=850464

Swyped from mah 3vo!
Phone: Htc One
Rom: Viper
Kernel: Stock

The rom I use the key problem of "home" was linked to data2ext.
Some of us have resolved with this procedure
1. Full wipe
2. Installing ROM (data2ext set no dates)
3. Starting the Rom
4. Turn off and return on cmw
5. wipe Dalvik and cache
6. ReInstallation Rom and set on data2ext
7. Reboot and all should work.
Sorry for my bad english

Thanks
Your phone will rebuild the dalvik and cache files during boot after you wipe them. It won't affect any apps or settings.
