[Q] HTC Evo 3d won't turn on - tried everything (no really I did)
Here is the deal.
The usb port on my EVO 3d fried a few months ago when my kid spilled water on my phone. Everything else worked fine, so I bought some extra batteries and an external charger and would just swap them out. Never had an issue with it until yesterday. The phone was working but the battery was low. I shut it down and waited for all the lights to turn off, took the battery out, put a new one in, and hit the power button. Nothing happened... no red light, home buttons didn't light up, nothing at all. I tried to swap in two other fully charged batteries (stock and non stock) with the same results.
I've tried taking the battery out and holding the power button down, tried holding the camera button + power button, volume up/down and power button, and other various combinations in hope that it works. The problem is that I cannot connect a cable to the phone because the USB is, quite literally, melted - has been for two months.
Is there any hope? Or is this a lost cause. I am reasonably skilled with a soldering iron and considered replacing the USB jack but I don't want to go through the effort if there is an easier way, or if this is a hopeless cause...
BTW this is an unrooted phone...
