Default Clockwork Mod Recovery issues

Okay, I can always get to it using the original method for gaining root but I've seen videos of people getting straight to it by applying the update.zip in regular recovery. When I apply update.zip, it does the same bull**** it did when I first did it. Then, I have to push ota.zip and all that nonsense. Any help is appreciated. I'm still very new to phone modding so I may have done something wrong. Otherwise, Slidemeroot2 is working great and the new radio is tits!

Well, I did downgrade to the ENG rom. I checked the Q & A and didn't find what I was looking for. I'll be the first to admit that I don't know what I'm doing, yet. I came here to learn. Most people have been very helpful, in that regard.

I appreciate that seemingly dumb questions might be annoying but I can assure you that my intentions are to get caught up to speed and maybe even to help develop, not to **** in your corn flakes.

*edit* Oops! Had a nasty bit on my clip board! Not for you!

**Make sure you have the correct update.zip in the root of your sd card** go into the thread and get the clockwork update.zip .. *do not* push ota.zip as update .zip to sd card.. Just download the correct clockwork update.zip to your sd card and follow the steps there!
