Default [Q] Easy Tether (wired tether) with A7?

Does anyone know if there's a way to use Easy Tether with an Android phone and the Elocity A7?

I know the file that needs installing on the input device is for Windows, not Android.

I'd love to use the A7 in place of my laptop on trips where there's no wifi available.
I'm not interested in rooting my phone etc., that's all way over my non-techie head and I'd no doubt ruin my phone.

Thanks for any help.

electric_alice,

The only way I know of tethering is by rooting your phone. Google z4root by RyanZa and find the apk. It seems to be gone from the Market. It's literally 1-click and that's it. I rooted my Droid X with this a while back and can now tether my laptop and the A7 without any problems. Once you have it rooted, grab Wireless Tether from the market and you should be all set.

Thanks for the information. I still don't want to root the phone.

I did email the developer of Easytether, as they have added support for other things, and am hoping they'll update it for android-android as well.

I haven't heard back but if I get a reply I'll share it. I'm thinking it might not work with the A7 anyway?
I just read in another thread, that the USB port can't be used for sharing files.

BTW, what phone do u have?
I just got the new LG Optimus V from VM and no rooting necessary. WIFI hotspot can be enabled with Quick Setting.
And it's real easy to connect as it's a AP. And VM gives unlimited Internet on their BEYOND TALK Plan. This is the best way to connect via WIFI hotspot for your A7.

Hi rogconnect,
I have an HTC incredible. I do have a setting to turn on a wifi hotspot but I'm afraid to change a setting and get a bigger bill from Verizon. I don't know all the ins and outs of how it works or what they know.

I've been using EasyTether away from home without problems. I have the paid version so I can pay bills etc.

Just an update, I heard back from EasyTether, in case anyone else is interested in same.

Question sent:

Hi, just got an Elocity A7 android tablet with USB port and want to tether my HTC incredible. Is this possible or if not, will it be in the future?
