Default [Q] What does update.zip do

Alright so this belongs in the android dev section for sgs4g but i cant post there because I dont have 10 posts lol but anyways...I was just wondering what exactly the update.zip file does AFTER I boot into CWM because everytime i try to flash it i get the cannot mount e:/....cache or whatever it is error(not really an error but it just doesnt flash).I have tried to maunally mount cache and the other one but it still doesnt flash.Once again i am able to boot into CWM but dont understand what the update.zip is for. Thanks in advanced

Um...i looked all over that whole thread but im not sure if you know what I mean. I dont want to know how to fix the the problem(although I did try to mount manually and still didnt get it to go through but thats besides the point) what I wanna know is what does the update.zip file contain/what does it do? Thanks

If I understand the responses given in the CWM thread...

Right now the way it works is that CWM isn't actually being installed, but instead is being activated though "applying" the update zip. It isn't ready to be fully installed on to the SGS4G due to some lingering problems with CWM mounting / unmounting the /system partition.

So RomManager isn't going to recognize it and you'll have to apply the update zip each time you want to get into CWM. Remember it's a Beta release, not full or final...

Ok alright so now moving on to the mounting problem I MANUALLY mounted cache and the other one but it still says cannot mount e:/cache. So when I go back to check it resets so its like as if I didnt mount them? Does anyone know anything bout that?

Well I did mount cache and data manually but I get the same cannot mount e:/cache error AFTER I mount manually. I go back to the mount menu and its like I never mounted them?(like it resets its self). Now....i have gotten into CWM and have done a backup and such, so do I even need to be trying to flash update.zip lol
