Default [INFO] The Ultimate Transformer Information Thread

Our Transformer section is starting to get a bit messy and fragmented so I thought I'd post this and gather the useful info into one place, making finding what you want a bit easier/faster. As the Transformer is a relatively new device the threads are in their infancy, but will grow with the help of you, the community.

Update:
Known fault with a certain model of charger. Info HERE.
Known fault with the dock. The dock will continue to drain it's battery when docked. If the battery inside the dock drains empty you may no longer be able to recharge the battery. For users with early dock units. Info HERE.

**In order to avoid any problems in the future due to charging, Asus recommends you charge the dock and the tablet, via the mains adapter, seperately.**

**Also do NOT leave it plugged in overnight. There have been too many people saying their chargers or docks no longer work after doing so, so the simple answer is, don't leave it plugged in for that long. It only needs about a 3hr charge max for the tablet part. The dock will take longer though.**

General Info:Software/Apps/Games Info:Rooting and Development:
  • If you have a device that has a serial number starting with B7 take note (You can find out by looking at the bottom of your tablet near the power slot on a sticker) you may not be able to root your device with older root methods. Some B7 devices have a differently locked bootloader (and secure boot key) in comparison to previous models. Info HERE. This also means you might not be able to fall back on NVflash to unbrick if something goes wrong. You can run THIS test to find out. Be careful. More info HERE.
UPDATE: Check out this RazorClaw tool as people have reported it works on the newest devices.

We need more FAQ's and guides written people! The dev section of the forum is packed with lots of useful info but it's very fragmented, and most of the threads labeled 'guide' just lead you to a url (other sites go down all the time). So if anyone can please write a few guides, it would be fantastic.

A list of things we really need proper guides for:

Root/Unroot
ADB
ClockWorkMod Recovery
Disassembly
Rom cooking
Kitchens
Flashing custom boot screen
Roms/Builds
Themes/UI customisation

Good work mate, should really fix up this mess. There really needs to be a Q/A section on the main page where you select the area you want to go. Gets really annoying when people ask the same questions countless of times. Hopefully this thread gets stickied.

Heh cheers. Unfortunately people are being a bit slow making good threads. I'd like to see an FAQ section too. Along with a nice rooting guide, a custom ROM's roundup guide, etc.

The best way to organize the definite information is in the wiki. The forum is great to find out the unknown information and to help each other. Once I got a transformer (what might take some while depending on asus), I'll start filling up the wiki for the transformer. I like to test out stuff before I write it out. But don't hesitate to start filling the wiki without me, you can't do anything wrong and you will only help a lot of people!

I think as long as you have the entire route cached, the speech should be available. End of the day, it's just a text-to-speech app.
