Just did the reg edit (not the .cab) and works fine on messages version 1.8 to disable both the sound and the icon.

Latest HTC stock 3.14 ROM has this SMS sent annoyance but doesn't have the reg key.

Add the reg key:

"DisableSMSSuccess" =dword:1

Here:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Jataayu\Messaging]

And the annoying SMS sent issue is no more.
