[Q] Rooting using the terminal

Hi,

I am looking for information on how to root using the terminal / adb. I consider myself a very advanced user, I have 15 years of coding / development experience on many platforms.

I am going to start developing apps for Android, not just install new ROMs etc. So like any power user I am looking for detailed information on how to use the terminal to crack root on an HTC Evo Touch 4G so that I know specifically how to do this, not just run a script.

Specifically I am looking for a recipe style list of commands, tutorial, or any other good documentation. I searched around the web and on this site however I only seem to find information on how to use pre-packaged scripts / apps.

A good place to get startet is the C-Skills blog. There you can find the Gingerbreak binary for Rooting Froyo, Ginderbread & Honecomb. Theres also the code of the Exploit availible afaik.
