03 is almost good, but there's still some chance in sunny conditions for corrupted images.

Edit: I tried with 03 compression in sunny conditions again, all of the pictures were okay now, the maximum image size was around 1.5-1.6MB. So I can say the chance for corrupted image with this setting is really small.

Same here. After tried again (setting/application/manage application and force close camera), camera works with 03. The images got arround 1.3 - 1.4 Mb. I'm on Quarx's CM7

köszönom! great hack you wrote... I copied the file that you postet in the quoted post into the /system/etc/ directory (worked with "file expert") but unfortunately the camera is not working anymore (only blackscreen with enlightened soft-keys). is the file you linked meant for defys with green lens?

Szívesen!

I didn't make this patch, just modified some values. If somebody is interested, here is the file with 03 compression value. This should be okay in 99% of ligthning conditions. I replaced mot_ise_imager_cfg.bin with Root Explorer, but it should be okay with any kind of file explorer (with root privileges).

If you have problems, first try to clear camera data in settings/applications/manage applications/all, and you should reboot your phone as well. Then it will be fine I guess...

thanks for the help. but unfortunately it didn't work either. I replaced the old file with your file and deleted the camera-settings then rebooted but still doesn't work...

I'm using the french-froyo-rom, is anybody else having problem with that?

btw.: using the old original file doesn't work now either... same problem. looks pretty bad... i think I should invest in root-explorer and try again

ps: could somebody verify my account please. it sucks to wait 5 minutes to being able to edit a post.

Are you using the stock, untouched FR ROM? Or is there any modification, did you delete anything? Which camera app are you using? I don't think your problem is related to mot_ise_imager_cfg.bin, and I think Root Explorer couldn't solve your problem.

I'm using the untouched fr-rom without modifications. as camera-app I use the stock-camera-app that comes with froyo (stock-camcorder is also not working now). everthing worked fine before I copied the mot_ise_imager_cfg.bin. my only problem is that the file is still in --x-w---x mode after I copied it and I can not change it permanently with "file explorer", I thought this might be a bug of this free-app so maybe root-explorer is going to able to set the permission right... what do you think?

Hmm, maybe camera app doesn't have access to the file? You could try another file explorer, like Yaffs Explorer or File Expert, they are free from Market.

sorry, I mixed up the names when I was writing... I am actually using file expert (quite obvious what was going on in my head: root explorer + file expert = file explorer )
