( unroted G2x and Launcher Pro)

Well....I bought mine the day it came out in the Tmo store. I had several reboots and the first 2 or 3 nights I awoke to an unresponsive phone.

1) after about a few days or so I noticed what seemed to be at least twice that the antivirus app "antivirus" ....the one now run by AVG. So have you noticed whensoever you unplug the phone from the pc that it scans the sd card...well i think the antivirus software does too... so I removed "antivirus" and turned on the antivirus part of "Lookout mobile security".

(I tried removing other and at first I thought it was " launcher pro"...but it rebooted using the default launcher. )

Anyway...

2) I read somewhere where someone thought the reboots had something to do with the charger having a funky voltage... 4.8 vs. Others having 5.0 or something like that. Also was mentioned that the G2x did not have the "over charge" cut off built in like almost all other phones. I am comming from a Nexus One ...and since comming from the N1..I never used the LG charger....so every night I awoke to a unresponsive phone...was with the N1 charger. After i switched to main charging/long term / over night charging..I finally woke to my phones alarm. Make sure you drain the battery completely as I was still conditioning my battery....so tuning it down to 0% may have "cleared out the bad charge or whatever. " after switching to the LG charger.

3) I had one last "reboot" (after charging on my pc) But after I installed the LG drivers from the website....that was the last time.

I have been running "reboot" free for over what...a month 1/2 now.....Battery life still blows.... but juice defender is a great band aid until the fix/update is out.

So I know what happened to me sounds crazy, but try using the LG charger only (a/c)...make sure any pc you plug USB charger in has the LG drivers...(fully discharge battery after these 2 steps).....maybe remove antivirus app. ( I think I will put it back on and see if it starts rebooting again.). And yes I check it every day so I know when it rebooted and when it does not reboot. EXAMPLE: I have been up now for 73:14:21

Good luck.

Forgot to mention

I'm using the latest build of Cyanogen's nightly builds for the G2x (Which is of course the LG P999).

Has been working better than ever on it.

If you want to do this as well, please post which rom you are using and which firmware.

So far, I've logged this once when I was opening a site in the android browser.

Using Cyanogenmod 7 with Gingerbread 2.3.4
Oh boy, my first post. Joy.

So I have always used the G2x stock charger...at least I think I am since I recently realized that I have two of them and only one LG phone. The other one must have come with one of the ridiculous amount of geek toyz that I have that I don't use or need. Back on topic...I have have been experienced random reboots this past week that I have noticed and an occasional unresponsive G2x a couple of times as well. After I read through this thread I wanted to mention that the charger I have says:
OUTPUT VOLTAGE: 5.1v ----- 0.7A
MODEL #: STA-U32WRI
If someone could possibly take a moment of their valuable time I would appreciate verification that I am indeed using my STOCK LG-P999 / G2x charger since I have that other one I have no idea if I mixed them up or not...

EDITED: I almost forgot. I have dropped my phone already and cracked the sucker but good! Phooey! Oh well...my first LG DROIDvise and it cracked on the 3rd drop and I have dropped both my G1 and MyTouchSlide3G dozens and dozens of times and from much higher drops and there is not a single blemish on either of them... They do both have slide out keyboards though and their glass is not almost to the edge like the new G2x and every other SmartPhone that I have ever seen with the cracks...including BBerry, iPhone and ANDROID devices.
I never noticed the phone rebooting before I dropped it the third time and the cracks happened and that was about a week ago...I've only had the phone for appx 3 weeks. again...sorry so long of a post... -Kdooo

Anyways...as far as the question of the day: STOCK EVERYTHING...just a few APPz and phun stuff installed and not even an over abundant amount of APPz either...even though I just came from a TM MyTouch Slide 3G and it had pathetic internal APP space mem so I stopped experimenting with APPz from APP MARKET many months ago...I think after I figure out how to finally root/mod/customROM etc... I will then rekindle my urge to ascimilate everything on the planet...possibly in one foul swoop!

Thanks again for being the BEST dang FORUM on the planet and probably in the known universe for these Android devices. I finally have legacy phones that will do stuff still... i.e. I am currently using my previous two HTC Androidz for IP WEB CAMz around my crib (G1 & MyTouchSlide3G........sick!

sorry about the long post admiz and phandroidz alike but you better get used to it because I am a phreakadroid and phandroid like that...

The LG charger that came with my G2x says LG on it (the one with my Nexus One seemed generic.. did not say HTC (do they make chargers?) or any name i can remember of hand). And the LG charger is 4.8 Voltz and 1000 mAh. everything i had done may have been coincidental (see previous post in this thread0...it was just my experience. As i write this i am up "109:59:10" yup 109 hours no reboot/lockup / battery pull etc....(see screenshot ) I used to restart my phone every morning when taken off the charger...i am seeing how long it will run before it needs a reboot.

Also using Juice Defender to extend the battery life.... it does nothing for actually using it...but it extends the life between charges...so the juice is there when needed.(free version should help anyone who just got the phone..i use the paid version... and have mine set to 30minutes vs the default 15 minutes) But once i actually start web browsing etc... the juice drops down like when i had my 1968 GTO and floored it,...and i saw the gas gauge actually drop drop LOL just kidding not that bad,.. but my N1 one was 12-14 hrs avg with medium usage easily with avg speeds of 2-3MB down and 1 -1.5/2 MB up. So 4g def kills it...on the G2x.. sorry about getting off topic.

Default anti-virus free locked my G2x

So I put back on "anti-virus free" (made by AVG) and the following night my phone was dead/unresponsive and needed a battery pull!!! I had been trouble free in the reboot/wake up to a dead phone department for about a month 1/2 . So I che led the default settings..... update and also scan set for "once a day". So....obvious equation for others with issues...anyone running this have the reboot or waking up to a dead G2x running this sore? And di you try removing it..? I will change settings to "once a week" and see what happens....I have a feeling its the scanner somehow causing it. (References from me previous post....below)

Its a memory leak for sure that's the root cause due to a bug in kernel. Your AV probably just causes it to occur. People who don't have reboots don't have any apps that trigger this memory leak. Seems anything that runs in background and deals with file I/o is a culprit IMHO. We just need the update.

Rooted via universal one click, stock rom,

Phone was in standby, screen off. Went to unlock and got stuck. Touchscreen wasn't working but the cell signal and battery meter was (plugging my usb charger in and out showed responsiveness, unlike most other times this has happened.)

Right now I'm trying to get into the bootloader and I'm at a S/W upgrade screen (no idea why.) Trying to decide if I should do another battery pull because the last time I saw this screen I was flashing clockwork recovery mod (I believe.)

And for the record, I've had battery pulls prior to rooting. At this point, I think I'm going to send my phone back.

I backed over it with the car Tuesday night at approximately 6:30pm. I even pulled the battery. The son of a gun won't boot.

It was the stock Rom and rooted.
