Hi bthoven/malicieux,
Thanks for the update...sadly I still can't get it to work.
I'm using Barnacle wifi tether on my s/e x10 mini pro.
Any ideas?

Andy

Thumbs up Yippee!

Scratch my last reply...it now works!
I went back to my wifi settings on the x10 mini pro and deleted the entries for remembered networks that I'd set up for my adhoc connection. Then using Barnacle wifi tether I reconfigured my adhoc network. Started Barnacle on the x10 mini pro, started ZT-180 on the SGT1010 and it connected immediately.
Thanks to everyone who's contributed...I now have something I can use out and about :)

Sorry if this is a noob question, but here goes...
I have a rooted SE X10 mini and an european Galaxy Tab 3G. I only want to have one paid sim card, so I'm looking for some way to share the 3G connection between the two - for now without rooting the tab. The sim can be placed in either device.
I have Barnacle on the X10 mini but the Tab doesn't detect the access point.
Any suggestions are greatly appriciated.

Thanks

Hi HenrietteK,
I'd say your simplest solution would be to put a pay-as-you-go sim in the Galaxy Tab...that way you've got immediate web access using the built-in stuff.
If you want to go down the route of tethering then you should refer back to bthoven/malicieux post regarding the ZT-180 app (above) and then use Barnacle from your X10 in the same way I have. Not sure about your setup so you may also need to update the wpa_supplicant file on your Galaxy (that info is in previous post here somewhere).
I hope this helps.
Regards...

awesome...the wpa_supplicant switch! Works like a charm on my rooted AT&T stock Froyo Samsung Galaxy Tab.

I forgot to back up my original wpa_supplicant file for my GT 1010 (wifi) and right now my wifi don't work. Can anyone help me and post an original wpa_supplicant file so I can copy it.

Thanks

Default these steps seemed sufficient but ...

I tried it on a galaxy tab from t-mobile and it didn't work. There must be a better way.

Grabbing the wpa_supicant file from there all I did was use root explorer, which can be found in the android market, to back up my existing wpa_supplicant found in the
/system/bin/ directory at the bottom. Then I copied the newly downloaded file
(after extracting it) and placed it in the above mentioned directory. You will have to press
The r/w button at the top of root explorer in order to enable read write permissions in
/system/bin . I tested this with the wireless tether on my droid original and it works
as advertised.

I am not the one who created this solution nor am I the one who compiled wpa_supplicant
All credit goes to the original author of the solution. I merely wish to convey to you that this solution worked for me. I hope this helps.

*It is important to note th at this was done using a rooted verizon galaxy tab. You will
Have to be at least rooted for this solution to have any chance of working. I used z4root
in order to root my device which can be found by searching these forums or the android market and again I dont claim any credit or participation in the creation of that app.

I'm a noob and I reviewed all the threads, but still need help. I have the rooted my GT-7510 and am running Android 3.1. I used root manager 2.16 to swap the wpa_supicant file from the link above and got a WIFI Error. I swapped the wpa_supicant file back around, but still get WIFI Error.... Heeeelp!
