[A] Defective Evo 3D speakers exist; exchange unit if you experience distortion
There have been a few posts regarding the poor quality of the Evo 3D's speaker. Many people state that the volume is just plain low, while others have been saying that their speakers sound blown at higher volume settings. I was of the latter, and asked people for their opinions on this post.
I ended up going to Best Buy and listening to their demo unit to immediately find that my speaker was defective. The demo unit was fine and comparable to the original Evo's speaker. They exchanged it for me with absolutely no hassle. The difference is night and day. My first Evo 3D could not play any notifications/ringtones beyond the halfway volume indicator without distortion. The new phone's speakers are fine - absolutely no complaints.
If you have a phone with distortion, it is not supposed to be that way. Hopefully, you'll be able to exchange it for a working unit.
BTW - I noticed that the new Evo 3D has a different screen. Both are hardware 002, but the newer screen has a more yellowish tint than the original. This is pretty much unnoticeable unless the 2 screens are compared, but (as others have reported) there are at least 2 different types of screens.
