Ok, so today sucked bad. I had picked up a corrupted file and had to wipe and repartition my SDcard and start from scratch. What a PITA. Fortunately I was able to save my music and my backups. That was last night. This morning, I go to reformat the card and set up my partitions (I know how, format, where and blah, blah, blah). My "home" ROM's Kahls's V4 (Dexters). I go to restore that one and it doesn't work. After many, many tries and recharges of my battery, I just said screw it and am going to stay on this ROM as my everyday and rebuild it to my liking.
So here is the thing. I know that this has app2ext support, which is what I use and have used for almost a year now. If I put the card in the phone and plug into my partition wizard, it shows up as all FAT. If I take it out and put it in a reader, it shows as FAT, EXT3, SWAP like I had it set up to do. I go into Root Explorer and look at SD-ext and no app folder. I put one in there and rebooted and go back in to see if it is still there and it is gone. This is what made me plug in with phone and then with card reader. I have even wiped the EXT3 partition and filled in the sectors with 1's and 0's.
Anyone have any problems like this? Has anyone actually tried to see their partitions with two different ROMS and make sure they are there on CM6?
For some of the more advanced users here, when I ran AOR SD-ext scan while working on restoring Kahl's, I kept getting notes that the insmods were in Lost and Found, repaired and fixed. Seems that the EXT3 partition won't mount for some reason. I successfully was able to boot up completely twice. Never got a bootloop, where it would run the animation and then screen would go black and animation would come back, but rather it never looped, just stayed in animation until I did a battery pull and started over. A couple of times, I let it do it for about :30mins. Tried on Kal's V4, Wanhu (original), Special Alfa/Beta, and only thing that will boot completely up is CM6 (my thinking is b/c of the EXT3 partition it isn't reading/mounting for some reason).

A couple of comments.
The /sd-ext directory is created on the rootfs at each boot. The rootfs exists in RAM. The ext partition on the sdcard is then mounted onto the /sd-ext directory. This causes the contemts of the /sd-ext directory to be replaced with the contents of the ext partition. If the mount fails, the directory that was created during boot is still there, but will be lost when you reboot (because it's in RAM instead of flash or sd card).
So, my explaination is that for whatever reason your /sd-ext isn't mounting and you see the empty rootfs /sd-ext. When you created /sd-ext/app it was in RAM and disappeared when you rebooted. If there are no errors in your card, it should mount.
If you use adb or terminal emulator, you can run the command "mount" with no options to get a list of mountes filesystems. You can also try manually mounting /sd-ext using adb or terminal to see what the error message is ("mount -t ext3 /den/block/mmcblk0p2 /sd-ext")
Another comment. When you export over USB, only the first partition is unmounted and exported. The rest will stay unmodified. If you plug into the USB and export the sd partition, your apps and widgets stored using the froyo native app2sd disappear on the phone. That's fatal for widgets and apps that run a background service. App2ext avoids that because the second partition is never unmounted.

The same happens to me before few months back and I had to send my phone for repair. They ended up replacing the whole board and is working good as new.
ok so i have good backups for the Xda Special, i have a brand new unused SDcard waiting for a new ROM! lol. So I am going to use it for CM6 and get it up to par with the way I like it and make a few backups of this. So I should be able to trade out SdCards when I want to switch between ROM's using Nandroid backups right?
I sure hope it will be ok, cause here I go! lol

Don't think so. I don't use any task manager at all except for froyo task killer which is more of a manual task killer. U might want to use it to end some apps to free up some memory
