Flash a branded phone?

Hi All,
I am new to this site and the idea of Flashing firm ware.
Here is my situation
I have a TYTN II on the UK Orange network . A friend of mine has the same phone SIM free and it is much quicker with the HTC firmware. So I would like to flash my firmware. Can I do this myself and what do I need to do it.
Also does anyone know a good cradle that will allow the following.
Charge on USB only (mains as well)
Charge a spare batter at the same time
When in the cradle be able to make and receive calls on hands free and Bluetooth.
Remain in a case whilst in the cradle. If I need a special case which one.

install pof's hard-spl... flash the rom of your choice... not that hard... also not that hard to read the bold sticky's at the top of the forum thread listing...
