Sense I'm nowhere near a 4g area I only did the 3g port fix described in post #81.
I actually fixed and returned to stock several times and ran speed test each time.
I followed the exact same procedure each time. Power off, reboot fully, task mgr clear memory then run speed tests. All tests were pinged to the same host.
The results:
Stock 5 test average.........Highest...........Lowest
Ping=175.4ms...................239................ 132
D/L =83.2kb/s...................125.3.............51.4
U/L =47.4kb/s...................61.1...............40.0
Fixed 5 test average
Ping=187.8ms....................306............... .115
D/L =52.9kb/s....................97.7...............20.3
U/L =46.6kb/s....................56.5...............37.0
Returned to stock
6 test average
Ping=209.3ms.....................304.............. ..131
D/L =99.2kb/s.....................182.4.............33.2
U/L =37.9kb/s.....................68.3...............19.1
Fixed 6 test average
Ping=128.5ms......................143............. ...102
D/L =68.1kb/s......................112.6.............46.8
U/L =37.8kb/s......................58.2...............17.6
Returned to stock
3 test average
Ping=217ms.........................294............ ....126
D/L =62.4kb/s......................86.5...............32.3
U/L =58.9kb/s......................72.5...............47.3
Fixed 3 test average
Ping=150ms.........................196............ ....119
D/L =82.3kb/s......................98.0...............66.2
U/L =44.7kb/s......................48.5...............42.5
My conclusion is, at least in my current location, that the 3g port fix had no effect on signal strength, stability or speed. I'll have to give it a try in other locations.
Here at the house the signal strength ranges from 0-3 bars. Stability is not great and will fluctuate constantly most of the time, but average 1-2 bars.
Not sure if this means anything to anyone, but those are my results. Just thought I'd share.
I know this is a resurrected old thread, but thanks for the info, it was fun play'n with it.
