I have a Telstra I9100T in Melbourne city. As far as stock roms go, I've found that XWKI4 (which has the XXKI1 modem) has given me the best performance. On average I get about 6Mbps down and 2Mbps up with peaks of 8Mbps down and 3Mbps up.

The stock rom XXKI3 (with XXKI3 modem) I was getting terrible data speeds. Averaging 3Mbps down and 1Mbps up. This was very noticeable as I tether my laptop to my SGSII at client sites.

As for the difference between 2.3.4 and 2.3.5, there isn't a lot. I actually prefer 2.3.4 which doesn't have the vibrate icon on all the time and less of the blue scroll glow.

I have yet to try XWKI8 with the XXKI4 modem. Hope this helps those who are still deciding amongst the plethora of roms available.

After doing a speed test in another suburb, I now average 3Mbps down as well with my I9100T on Telstra with XXKI3. Would you suggest using a different modem with XXKI3? I'm thinking giving XXKI4 modem a go with the XXKI3 PDA.

Anyone have links to modem-only ROMs?

Thanks but that page contains packages with PDA+phone. I'm after phone/modem-only packages.

Thanks. I actually figured out that you can manually extract the modem.bin file from the tar packages, then create your own tar package with just the bin file. LOL!

Ok gents I've just tried the XXKI4 and DUKF4 modems. So far I've had the best speeds with XXKI4 @ 3.7Mbps down but I live 1 block away from a Westfield mall so I may try again late tonight and at my workplace on Monday. Seems promising. Getting sub-3Mbps on the DUKF4.

Again...
Model: I9100T
Network: Telstra
ROM+CSC: XXKI3
Modem/Baseband: XXKI4
Speed test: 3.7Mbps down

Tested again. Same setup, same location: 4.7Mbps down YAY!

What do you mean? I thought you said you getting 6.4Mbps on the KI4? Are you saying the speed drops when you reboot the phone?
