[Solved] Radio?
Hi
OK, I have just received my Atrix, and am having trouble. Basically, it will not connect to mobile data.
It is an AT&T model, unlocked to all networks by the seller. I can make & receive phone calls (now I've found how to skip Blur setup), and have entered the correct APN settings, but it refuses to connect.
I am assuming this is a radio/frequency issue. Are there any radio images that can be used to correct this, so I can use this in the UK? On the Defy there is an app called "baseband switcher" which can install the correct info for you.
---------- SOLVED ----------
Just a quick edit to show this issue is fixed.
I am unsure what fixed it. I have performed most of my testing at work, and found that the issue here was a problem with my provider (they were doing maintenance in the area). But it didn't work at home either, initially. I have flashed several radios, modified pppd-ril.options and replaced libmoto-ril.so. Something out of these has fixed my issue.
If I get chance I will remove some of the mods to see if the issue comes back, and post the results here for anyone else who comes accross this problem.
By the way, this has only fixed the issue of no 2G data. 3G data on 900MHz is still unavailable, as far as I am aware. If anyone knows how to check which frequency is currently being used, I can check this further, otherwise I think this is the best we can hope for at the moment.

Hi
Does anyone know the answer to this?
Can I flash a UK/European radio on this (AT&T) Atrix? I have installed Aura, will this make a difference? Are there "fruitcakes" available for the radio, or must I use and SBF?
I have tried to research this through the site (and google) but I can find no definitive answers. All I think I need is a 900/1800/2100 baseband. I definately have the correct APN settings, and mobile data has worked while I've been out and about, but it is very patchy and I am not getting mobile data in places I know have good signal, and am noit getting 3G in places I used to.
I had this same problem on my Defy, and this was easily fixed using the Defy Baseband Switcher app. Selecting a UK baseband fixed all my issues then, so I expect the same now.
Please help
Thanks

Hello
I'm interested at the answer too. I have bought AT&T version from US and imported it to Europe.
The problem for me is that I need Atrix to use 900MHz 3G. I can use 2100MHz 3G but when the 3G is build using 900MHz, Atrix is not able to use 3G, only Edge or GPRS. I have other phone with 900MHz/2100MHz support which I use to verify existence of 3G service.
I have tried with radio version N_01.95.00R which did not work with 900MHz. Just couple of minutes ago I installed N_01.100.00R (CWM zip), haven't yet tested it with 900MHz.
I have seen reports from users owning Atrix, that they have been able to activate 900MHz 3G support by installing N_01.95.00R or N_01.97.00R.
If N_01.100.00R does not work, I''ll try N_01.97.00R and after that I don't know what to try.

Thanks, that's more info than I've managed to glean from my research.
I'm also on a network which uses 900MHz for 3G (in some areas at least) so this may be my problem. I'm currently on baseband N_01.77.15P. If you wouldn't mind letting me know once you've checked I'll wait for you to report back about
N_01.100.00R.
By the way, does anyone know if there are these "fruitcake" things for radios, or do they have to be flashed from SBFs?

Just FYI, I got impatient, and work has been quiet, so I tried myself.
1.100.0R and 1.95.0R made no difference for me.
I also tried an international 1.97.0R SBF, and this gave me an error while flashing... was quite worried till I pulled the battery and it booted back up fine.
I just want to add, here, that if I manage to get 3G reception I can use it fine. However I don't get 3G in very many places, including ones which worked perfectly (full signal) on my Defy. Also, as soon as it tips over to 2G in these places, it shows the "G" icon but does not allow any traffic.
As I said, this is exact problem I had with my Defy when a ROM I installed changed the baseband to a US one from a UK one, and it was fixed as soon as I changed back. So "all" I need is a baseband which will install on my (BL unlocked, SIM unlocked, Rooted and ROMed) AT&T Atrix which is compatible with (O2) UK bands (specifically 900MHz for 2G & 3G and 2100MHZ for 3G only).

I tested with N_01.100.00R, but no success.
I don't know anything about "fruitcake", but I have installed new radio versions either from sbf with RSD Lite or from zip-files using CWM.
Where to find radio versions made for Europe/international use?

I have an AT&T Atrix in Germany, everything works out ok. Try following:
Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1163009 and flash the radio from there.
In your stock dialer, dial *#*#4636#*#*, choose Phone Information, Set preferred network type to "GSM auto (PRL)" or "GSM Only".
Before all that though, make sure you have the correct APN, it'd be a bummer if it's that simple.. :)

Hi
Thanks. I have checked the APN settings so many times now that I could probably recite them by heart I have also installed an app which sets up the correct settings for me, so I'm pretty sure they are right. From *#*#4636#*#* network type is set to GSM auto, and "GSM disconnects" says "fail because Unknown Data Error".
Which radio from that post, BTW? The AT&T .91 one?

Yep, that's the one I'm using.
Try flashing that and see how it goes. Though data should work regardless older / newer radio; have you tried calling your provider?

Nup
Flashed the linked radio, and it made no difference.
By the way, I finally found where the "Select band" item was, it's in the 4636 menu, phone info, menu key, select band. This shows only USA.
I think I may try flashing the French fruitcake located here just to see if that fixes it. Orange France uses the same frequencies. I know it's stock, but I can try flashing a custom ROM after. I just want to get this thing working now...
Also, there is a post here which seems to suggest a method to fix it, but I am at work and it's too much hassle to set all that up here.
