Battery life is ruled by screen on time. In one stretch you might approach 6 hours of screen on time if you're lucky. People who are getting 4 days out of their phone likely have 3-4 hours screen on time. What's your screen on time for those 15-18 hours?

That said, monitoring which apps can refresh, and under which circumstances, can add some extra life.

How to install the latest firmware on your phone. This will also get rid of Bell's bloatware:

1) Make sure you have working drivers installed on your computer. If you do not, the easiest way is to download Kies and it will install it for you.

2) Install Odin 1.85 on your computer (attached at the bottom of this post)

3) Pick any firmware version you would like to flash from Intratech's thread linked here. The firmware is arranged from oldest to newest so the last ones are obviously going to be the newest.

4) Start Odin in "administrator" mode and make sure Kies is not running in the background. Use task manager to check

5) Place your downloaded firmware .tar or .md5 file into the PDA section in Odin. Make sure re-partition is not selected. Auto reboot and reset time should be selected by default.

6) Remove any external sd cards and the sim card from your phone (precaution) then reboot into download or hold volume down + home + power key. If a warning pops up press the volume up key to continue.

7) Connect your phone to the computer with the USB cable. You should see the I.D:Com port turn yellow.

8) Once you are certain everything is where it should be, select START. Once the process has completed your phone will re-boot. Exit out of Odin. That's it!

I used Polish XXKI4 firmware, which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1075278

Okay so I'm on the checkrom 2.0 version...

i'm using the darkknight siyah kernel

it's..a pretty stock-like rom?

I'm not sure how to..customize it..help?

Also, i'm not getting that great of a battery performance either...

i've got like 1.5 hrs screen time..and it's already at 25%...

any other rom/kernel you'd recommend? as well as any other tweaks to apply? BTW What modem are you guys using? I"m on Telus...

Thanks!

Didn't check so not sure but it was definitely not more than 3 hours screen time.
Used Titanium backup today and froze FOta client 2 wifi share things and so far.
Through nearly 8 hours used up only 1/3rd battery

One thing to verify....I have wifi set to turn off with screen off. I have a suspicion it is staying on anyway.
Is there a way to double check this?

I'm getting a fairly decent battery performance from my phone after updating to the XXKI4 firmware (and CF-root kernel), however, i was just wondering if it's possible to perhaps undervolt the cpu? maybe overclock? or is this purely a custom ROM feature?

Also, any way to remove that blue streak u get when in the browser or when scrolling to the end of lists? I don't mind the streak during lists, just browsing, where it can get quite annoying.

Switching between homescreens gets a little laggy at times.. any fix for that ?
On a similar note, can we install any theme customizations/mods (5 icon dock, more columns in app drawer etc) without sacrificing my battery life and overall stability?

Thx for any help.

Try Go Launcher Ex from the market - it's much more useable than the stock TW launcher, and it's free. Just install it and select it as the default when you click the Home button.
