I am updating and i will let you know about the results. Thanks again!

---------- Post added at 09:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:08 PM ----------

Does not seem to work. When In the Diagnosis app dial: *#9908# i only get GPRS Manager and nothing else. (My Diagnosis version is 0628).

Also, my xap installed apps are not running any more! I am at least disappointed. :(

(
Heathcliff74 Interop Unlock.xml can only over the GPRS settings log in the phone system)

In the Diagnosis app dial: *#9908# click "Select GPRS" and you will see "Heathcliff74 Interop Unlock" select it. Tap "Save", tap "Close" and exit the Diagnosis app.

You are now unlocked, but your 3G settings are screwed (side-effect)

Hi,
I'm pretty new to WP7 so I have few questions before I start unlocking my phone.

Today I got my Omnia 7 from second hand, the pre-owner told me, that he updated the phone yesterday, so it has an unbranded Mango ROM installed. Will this guide work for me if Mango is already installed on the device?

Also another question, if I use a t-mobile branded ROM like in the main post here, will the updated Version also be t-mobile branded?

How do I install, and then uninstall the Samsung diagnosis app?

Thanx in advace.

no, the first unlock, chevron unlock works only on a pre-NODO ROM, not on MANGO.
You have a choice between t-mobile branded rom or unbranded pre-NODO ROM.

omnia 7 ROM flash guide with un-branded ROM inside
Samsung Omnia 7 Firmware XXJJ6 ALL PROVIDERS (select csc in flashtool your provider) T-Mobile branded ROM

... If you use a t-mobile rom, after update you also on t-mobile mango.

... To deinstall a app (diagnosis app) go to it in startmenu, press and hold it and select deinstall. To get a new diagnosis app, dail in phone dailer ##634#.

Download the Samsung Tools here.
Run ADC option to automatically configure Data and MMS settings on reboot.

OR NEW: Download "Samsung Repair 3G by Heathcliff74.xap" and run it on your phone. It should work immediately. I already got confirmation that it works, but please report your results!!

cheers, miro

if you like the WiFi InternetSharing on your un-branded ROM:

[XAP] Internet Sharing + Interop Unlock all-in-one for Samsung Phones tnx voluptuary

1.) First unlock your Samsung phone (chevron unlock)
2.) Use the Application Deployment tool to send THIS to your phone. You do not need to run it and you can delete it after it has been deployed.
3.) Install the Diagnosis app by typing ##634#
4.) After the Diagnosis app starts type *#9908# and select 'System Tweaks' press 'Save' then 'Close' and RESTART your phone.
5.) Your phone now has internet sharing and as a bonus is interop unlocked!

EDIT: I built the file depoyer app using the tools provided by Heathcliff74 so many thanks to him! Also ADC is built in as well so no need to worry about that and I also upped the max number of connections from 3 to 5 devices.

Hey,
thank you for this guide, it took me through the whole process of getting my Omnia unlocked, and after approximately 4 hours of fumbling around, fixing some connection problems, installing some software on both pc and notebook, I got it working finally.

Can I remove all the software I used to install on my phone for the unlocking process (Interop Unlock, Repair 3G, WP7 Root Tools)?

Also, if I softreset the phone, will the unlock be gone?

Regards,
m00h

Yea, the backup thing is a pretty good addition to the whole thing. Had to unlock my phone again today, now since I have a backup it won't be that kind of annoying prcedure for me.

I have another question, maybe not really thread specified: do I get it right, that as soon as I put my Live account data to my WP7, it will start synchronizing my contacts with Live, without me being able to stop that or turn it off?
If so, is there any way to stop that by editing the registry of the system or something related? Maybe you have a clue, since you seem to have deep system knowledge :p

I´m not sure and not a really big expert for wp7, but i think a standard method to stop or turn off the Live account don´t exist, a REG Tweak also not ...

but you can post in WP7 general forum your qwestion- we have here really good developer and experts- maybe helps ....

cheers and have a gooooooood tim with your "free" wp7 phone

IMPORTANT: CERTIFICATE NOT VALID ANYMORE

Ok, for those who are running into trouble with the ChevronWP7.exe, it's probably because of the fact, that the certificate (cr-developers.co.cc/cwp7.cer) which you install on your device expired on 25. Novembre 2011. The only solution to still be able to use the Chevron unlocker is to set on both your PC and your WP7 device to something before 25. Novembre 2011 and reboot both devices (!) before using the unlocker again.

Just figured that out after ****ing around with my phone for another 5 hours almost smashing it against the wall.

Thank you for the guide, but for me the unlock doesn't hold until mango. After all the updates are finished, the phone is locked again.
If somebody knows what to do, please respond! I re-flashed already 3 times a new ROM and followed the instructions. After I finish unlocking device with Chevron, the program gives and error, maybe this is one of the causes.
    Cheers!

the right chevron unlock and the pervent to re-lock are very importand. before update to mango test few times with connect and disconnect zune + deploy few xap ... if you can every time connect zune and deploy xap's then go step by step forward. after any updates to Mango make the interop-unlock steps ...

Thanks for the great guide mirolg :)

I haven't actually got my omnia yet I'm waiting on it coming but would like to unlock it when it does. My question is I want to have an unbranded firmware so could I use this one "Samsung Omnia 7 Firmware XXJL3 RETAIL UNITED KINGDOM"? I know it has to be pre nodo but I'm unsure if this one is or not? The one you have provided "Samsung Omnia 7 Firmware XXJJ6 ALL PROVIDERS" is this t-mobile branded?

Any advice would be appreciated as I'm new to windows phone and still getting my head around it

    Cheers
