Unhappy [Q] .20 MBps tops on 4g... and degrading.

my LTE speedson my thunderbolt wont go beyond .20 mbps... tried froyo/ginger/c7/miui vicious ...you name it... tried different types of radios and no difference, same results. right now im on miui vicious and i do have full service 4g... download is just non existent while upload works just fine...

seems like its been slowly degrading, and this week it just snapped. i have been stuck at under .20 mbps for the last 4 days. called verizon they said everything is fine on their end.. any ideas on what might be going on?

thank you

I'm in Tucson and have been having problems all week. 3G is fine, but it won't switch to 4G. When it does, the speed is terrible.

I just downloaded the Thunderbolt LTE toggle app from the market, switched to LTE only, and got nice download & upload speeds. I'm going to Phoenix next week, and it will be interesting to see how things go there.

Obviously you've already tried froyo and gingerbread roms as you said but on my phone gingerbread roms suck for d/l speed. On froyo i get at least 15mbps everytime I test it and alot of times it will be over 20mbps but on gingerbread most of the time its 3-5mbps or less, usually less. That's with trying every radio out there too. Don't understand it but that's what it does on my phone.

Almost forgot, are you using the stock battery cover? The antenna is in the cover and when i bought a cheap extended battery and cover off eBay my 4G was non existent. Figured out it was the cheap cover that was the problem. I stuck some aluminum foil on the prongs and put the cover back on as a temporary fix until I got my good seidio battery and cover.

You might want to see if verizon can hook you up with a new 4g card. I read a post a while back person had similar problem and it fixed theirs.

I had this same issue, tried replacing back cover, battery, 4g sim card and nothing worked. Verizon claimed no network issues.

I ended up asking for a replacement unit (under warranty) and the replacement unit does not have the same problem.

Lesson is, 4g hardware for the Thunderbolt can fail spontaneously. Mine degraded gradually like yours to **** over a period of a few weeks. My 3G was also affected, so it may have something to do with the qualcomm chipset itself.

In any case, try a new sim card but dont be shocked if it doesn't work and you have to get a new phone. Hope you are under warranty
