I used WP7 Root Tools by Heathcliff74 and put a .wma file in My Documents/My Ringtones to use as a text messsage alert. The new sound plays for a day or so whenever I get text messages, but then all of the sudden I'll start getting NO alert at all. When I go to check things out, I see one of the standard alert sounds (like alert 10) will be selected, even though I get no alert sound at all! I either have to select another standard alert sound, or re-edit the value in the registry to get my custom alert sound working again, but the same thing happens all over again. Anybody run into this problem or know what's causing it?

Samsung Focus, by the way (NOT Focus S - I have both currently, because I haven't sent the original Focus back to AT&T yet for the replacement Focus S they sent me).

This happens when either you go back into ringtones+sounds or you restart the phone, I haven't found out a reg edit yet that will keep it from reverting back. It seems to be some kind of stupid policy on the phone that came with Mango.

If you have read/write access to your folders just over write the existing alerts. I use to be able to do this per-Mango; fist I made a back up of all the original Alerts 01-10 and then just over wrote them with new ones, the trick is to make your new alert tones in WMA fromat and rename them to Alert-01 and so forth. This way they will stick if you reboot or go back into ringtones+sounds because the system will look at them and think they are the default ones.

I do not have this issue on my phone (Mozart DFT v3). I only have this issue if I actually change any of the other ringtones, i think.
