Here are many frequently asked questions that I have seen! I will keep updating this.

Q - Why did you make this thread?

Q - I want to revert back to the stock ROM of the Amaze. How do I do that?

Q - How do I root my device / install clockworkmod recovery / install a custom ROM?
A - Follow Binary's thread and make sure you READ IT. If you don't, Binary will put you on his sh*t list! http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1426377

Q - How do I unroot my phone?

Q - What is S-Off? S-Off means Security Off?
A - It will allow you to flash different radios, Hboots, etc.

Q - Do I need S-Off?
A - Not necessarily. If you just want to flash ROMs, then just use HTC's method to unlock the bootloader.

Q - Will unlocking the bootloader void my warranty?
A - Yes and no. They will not honor the warranty if it is a software related issue. They will honor it if the touch screen stops working, the camera doesn't work, etc. Basically hardware issues.

Q - How can I remove Sense?
A - You can't fully remove Sense but there are scripts you can flash in CWM to remove bloatware. Download it from here and flash it via CWM. http://developer.clockworkmod.com/do...ver-v1.0.0.zip (Credit to Xboarder56)

Q - Is there a hack so I can unlock the phone to use for another carrier?
A - No. You can get the code from your carrier or buy the code online. Do not post where you can buy it or else Binary will be VERY pissed at you. This is the warning!

Q - How do I flash a kernel?
A - Use X's Kernel flasher tool. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1328141

Q - I flashed a kernel but my wifi or hotspot doesn't work. Why?
A - Reflash the kernel. According to Faux123 " Because the previous kernel included a Secured RAM Disk, so you may need to run the script twice. (Once this is done, then any subsequent flash should complete on the first time)"

Q - What is a kernel?
A - A kernel is the building block of everything. It is like the atom for life.

Q - Why would I want to flash a different kernel?
A - Custom kernels have mods in them that make them more stable, overclockable, add new tweaks and features, etc.

Q - Can I overclock my phone?
A - With a custom kernel you can, depending on the modder of the kernel. At the moment, the only custom kernel is by faux which can be downloaded here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1359951

Q - What does overclocking the kernel do?
A - Makes the phone faster, but you result in short battery life and it lowers the life of your phone.

Q - My battery sucks. What should I do?
A - I bought me an Anker battery. It has 1930 mAh so it lasts longer. I bought it on eBay for $16. Well worth the deal! You can lower your brightness, remove widgets, disable background data, turn off bluetooth/Mobile data network/WiFi, etc.

Q - My battery takes forever to charge. Why?
A - Big battery, needs time. Make love to the wife or go to sleep.

Q - When I press the lock button, the screen goes black. I press it again and it goes back to the regular screen and not the lockscreen. Why?
A - Sounds like a software bug. I just reboot my phone to fix it.

Q - My mobile network / Wifi doesn't load up when I unlock the screen. Why?
A - Do you have JuiceDefender installed? I believe there is a bug with it. It happens to me and I just restart the phone.

Q - Why aren't there many custom ROMs?
A - The Amaze is locked to a few carriers. Not every carrier worldwide sells it. It limits the amount of modders we have.

Q - I have Carrier IQ installed. How do I remove it?
A - Install a custom ROM. The modders usually remove it or root your device and download this app. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=110

Q - I get an error message with the WiFi Calling. Why?
A - Get a new SIM card from T-Mobile. You have to have the new 4G capable SIM card.

Q - I have slow data speeds on 4G. Why?
A - 4G depends on your area, how close is the 4G tower, if you are in a populated city, etc. Also, make sure you have a 4G SIM card.

Q - My touch screen would sometimes not let me press a certain button on the screen. Why?
A - I just restart the phone but here is a solution for now, I guess.

Q - I have a low quadrant score with the ROM I use! Does it mean it is bad or slow?
A - No! Quadrant score doesn't mean anything! It is just a number. Using the actual system and the user experience is what matters.

Q - I have an unlocked Amaze / Ruby. Will the 4G on other carriers world wide?
A - Yes and No. It all depends on the frequencies the carriers use. If it isn't compatible, then you will be stuck on edge / 2G.

Q - I rooted my phone and now I want WiFi tethering! How do I do that?
A - Download this and install it.

After it opens, go to settings -> Change Device Profile. Select HTC Amaze / Ruby.
Go to settings -> Routing fix and select the box.

Q - I recorded a video. The video recording audio sucks. Why?
A - Ask HTC why they used a crappy piece of hardware.

Q - My screen looks like it bleeding! How can I fix it?
A - Put a band-aid on it! or follow the fix below.

Q - When I am going to send a message or dial a number, it doesn't show anything when I type the name but only the first name. Why?
A - Pretty weird, I know. We have to wait for a solution!

Q - I unlocked my phone and I am using it on another carrier. Where can I get the settings for the Internet/MMS?
A - I made a thread for APNs for other carriers. Check it out. If it doesn't have the carrier you want, PM me or post a comment on the thread.

Q - I want to back up my apps because I am switching to another phone / going to install a custom ROM / resetting my phone. Who do I do that?

How Do I re-lock the boot loader for the Htc Amaze from hboot screen?

Hello, I have a Htc amaze and I unlocked the bootloader, I managed to get CWR and a different hboot screen, but whenever I try to turn it on It stays on the htc boot screen. What do I do? I know about RUU but It says to only use on a relocked bootloader, but I cant re lock it. PLEASE HELP

I'm trying to understand by what you mean "different hboot screen". Did you take out the battery, put it back in and hold the volume down button and power button to get to the bootloader?

I would like to know what different hboot screen is too. There is only ONE other hboot screen and it's completely black with HTC in the center with no text (other than the HTC of course).

I bed that he flashed a rom and it's booting up. Give it about five minutes or so.

I fixed it, I wiped the whole phone THEN flashed a ROM I forgot to wipe it, Oh my god I am such a Dumb@$$, lol, and by different hboot screen It looked different then before I rooted it and added a recovery

You don't necessarily need S-off to flash radios... just saying.
