Random, you ARE incorporating the "itsmagic" checksum recalculation step in your recovery, yes? If not, how are you dealing with the encrypted bootloader's checksum verification?
Presumably,
I'm not exactly looking yet but the main components of a cwm recovery:
* Itsmagic is by sc2k:
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1121543
This will need a script to run it on boot, but write your own don't use Thor's if you are going to remake recovery with the point of avoiding his work, this is not in CWM by default
* Cwm recovery is by koush and part of cyanogen mod:
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_bootable_recovery
Having a vender tree helps here since otherwise you wil be hacking another devices version, pershoot has some tablet recovery only vender trees in his github.
* most logic for the internal SD has been added to koush's code with help from pershoot for other tablets (not sure what Thor did on his version may not match that of Koush)
* the two big components compiled into CWM recovery that are under the gpl-v2 are the kernel and busybox.. other components to the best of our knowledge are under apache2 and thus different terms. (The version of thor recovery i have has the
stock kernel, I've not looked closely at the busybox, but if its just from one of koush's builds/source its the cyanogenmod
busybox.. no clue what commit, but tagging what commit for what build seems more recent by even the best of developers..)
Hopefully this project will succeed sooner, but my hope if I find the time is just a cm9 build tree including recovery for the a500.
But remember regardless of if Thor is doing it right, and giving the correct credit to all those sources, if you are to do it right you must ignore that and while this project seems reasonably possible without Thor's work, if you need it he still gets credit for what he works on, so lets avoid statements about how he must do it right first, otherwise I just have two people's work i must try and avoid.
