Yes you are right. but my housing is clean because i always use hard case wallet. but I will open again to make speaker little bit free to let the pressure go out. But problem really not in isolation of speaker! Because before I was trying to cover with rubber just speaker -it is not help. Then I isolate mics - and it get fine!
Specially under microphone there was no rubber isolation!

Don't know why did not work for me. I've tried with 2 diferents Visa cards (expired) and a piece of carton (it's quite thick).

If anyone can help.
Thanks.

Are you sure you cleaned out the housing and the bottom of the speaker properly?

If there is residual dirt or anything that could elevate the speaker it wont seal properly and you the speaker sound will still be present in the phone. you need to make sure the speaker is completely isolated from the internals of the phone.

The problem really not of isolation of speaker. Also not in cleaning of housing. My phone is almost brand new and I always was using case that always cover speaker holes. There is no garbage for sure. I was trying to cover just speaker with paper than with rubber-not help at all even become worst. Then I pick up little bit microphones and saw that there is no rubber seal under it only on top of microphone but not under.that's why vibration from speaker via hull proceed to Mic.when I put slice of rubber under Mic the echo disappeared at all. Look my upper post.the speaker should be free from top to let air pressure go out when the speaker works.

ohh, so instead of putting something ON the speaker, you put some rubber UNDER it?

Wink solved

My wifes SGS2 has had the annoying echo only when a cover is on.

I tried the business card over the back of the speaker. Did not work....

Then I studied the picture in the post again - toxicdust outlines in red in one picture the area to put the cardboard - then in the picture with the cardboard in place the cardboard extends further - so it covers the gold spring/contact to the right of the speaker (the picture just under step 7)

So I made my cardboard piece a little longer - approx 16mm so it covered the speaker and the gold contact. Now the echo problem is gone completely.

Good luck.

Some people seem to get mixed results with this. Thank you for taking a little bit of initiative as this is only a guide to the problem. On mine it wasn't necessary to cover the gold contact on the right.

I just covered the Area in the 1st picture as labelled with "C" and mine is working correctly.

I think all in all we found a solution that works for most with some little variations to it and that's the important thing ... that we have found a solution for at least more than 5 people

Absolutely clean. I've used a small sized paint brush.
