Having the same problem with DE not recognizing my existing SDK.
(It's located on my root => c:android-sdk-windows/platform-tools/)
SDK version: android-sdk_r12-windows
device: Droid Eris
OS: Windows XP
During the install when I select the option to use an existing SDK and navigate to my directory where the adb.exe is located I get this message: "Unable to identify the specified path as a valid Android SDK directory."
I am aware that adb.exe was moved from /tools/ to /platform-tools/
But DE throws this error when pointing it to /platform-tools.
I tried moving the adb back to the /tools folder, but DE doesn't see it there either.
The only way to make DE work was to let it set up SDK by itself in its own directory (c:ProgramFiles/DroidExplorer/sdk/tools/) afterall.
So now I have two instances of SDK tools on my PC.
your program does recognize my device incorrectly (DInc2), but everything works as it should, or at least as i need it to. so i'm certainly not complaining. very helpful and handy to have on the PC. many, many thanks!
Been trying to get DE installed on Win7 x64 for months now ... is there any way to get DE installed?
When I try to install with Android SDK, installer crashes with the usual error in Line 141 something. When I install current Android SDK myself, and point DE Setup to existing platform-tools dir, it says it can't find SDK.
Could you please fix this? I see people having this error for months now ....
Edit: or at least go and remove the x64 installer from your website if there is no way getting this to work on Win7 x64.
I'm running Win7 Home Premium x64, and this was working before, but I tried today, and it won't work anymore. I know it worked with my myTouch 4G that I had, but it's not working with my Amaze now. It finds and connects to the device, but doesn't load anything. I've also tried running it as an administrator and got the same results. Any suggestions?

USB Drivers installed - This is still in "alpha", should only install them if you need them. please report any issues. It doesn't actually install the drivers, it places them in the driver store, when the device is attached, and the new hardware wizard displays, selecting "automatically install (recommended)" should find the drivers automatically. This installs the 1.6 drivers.

app.manifest added to projects. requestedExecutionLevel = requireAdministrator. This means in Vista/Win7 it will prompt w/ UAC. I can not get around this at this time.
this is because in order for the service to use the same settings as the application, i need to save them in the install directory.
The sdk tools, if downloaded, is no longer stored in the user directory, it is stored in the install directory, see above for the reason.
Known devices moved back to HKLM for the same reasons above.

if the type argument is not specified, then it will display a plugin selection dialog.
Installer plugin. This is launched by the runner when an APK file is opened in Explorer.

the initial device selection dialog is only required if more then 1 device is connected.
If you have set up to use the SDK tools by downloading the tools and put them in your user application data directory, when launched, it will prompt you to re-setup the tools. They are not stored in the user directory because the Service can not access that directory.
