[Q] Cannot boot streak 5 into recovery mode

Hello Friends,

Dell streak 5 details :
Android : 2.2.2
Baseband version : GAUSB1A135100-EU
Kernel Version : 2.6.33.9-perf
OEM Version : GAUSB1A135100
Build number : 15609

I am unable to either root or upgrade dell streak 5 to 2.3 or higher andriod verisions.

to download the files i.e. update.pkg and have installed update.pkg but I cannot boot my phone into recovery mode. It provides the option to select update.pkg but the phone wont boot into clockwork recovery mode and give an option to use update.zip or install new custom ROM. Can anyone please guide how to root the phone and upgrade the ROM to gingerbread or any higher versions please send an email to others@photoshopmagic.co.in

XDA-developers is a great site.

The menu with the option to install an update package is recovery mode. Sounds like you are booting into the stock recovery.

Don't hold your breath waiting for an e-mail from someone telling you how. This is a forum where solutions are shred publicly so that many can benefit. It is not a personal support area.

The answers you need are here in this forum. Take the time to read in more depth.

I have read almost all the threads related to update streak 5 on custom rom and downloaded numerous files. After trying every possible way now I thought its time to seek help. I am able to use update.pkg but then the option to use update.zip for custom ROM isn't shown. Will be great if you could guide the way

IF you read the post in DSC 07 it will walk you through what your trying to do all the answers are there with step by step instruction you might be in over head and end up with a $200 brick
So read before leaping
