xanadu you're a life saver. i was in a reboot death loop after trying to apply the ota update.
however, i installed the 2.3.6 from cwm, booted and followed the instructions to remove *.odex. when i go to copy app and framework from my external sd card the files are not found. i can see them via windows explorer but adb doesn't see them (ls sdcard-ext shows no files).
what am i doing wrong?
yeah, that was the first thing i tried when the first cp command didn't work. nothing there either.

usb connection is charge only (or none)?
adb devices show your unit?
adb shell starts?
su [enter] show an #?
#stop switch off your unit?
No more ideas, sorry; I am a simple user too.
I just want 2.3.6, AKA 4.5.141. I have .140 (it was leaked). Just want to be on the latest. Just want a fruitcake.
Hello, I can install it from recovery?I imagine you were answering my post? do you mind PMing me either the file or the whole package so I can extract it out and make a fruit cake?
Edit - I did it myself and successfully flashed it, here is a zip made right from the SBF and following the format of sam's own fruit cakes. I did find someone else who posted a CWM flashable zip but I wanted to make one with just a bp.img instead of a split file.

Deodexing is optional only needed if somebody want install new themes, using UOT kitchen etc. From my understanding, deodex'd files are used only or mostly when a developer wants to change theme and stuff like that. So the deodex files are optional if you want to go to 2.3.6, right? Or is there something else that is different and we have to use deodex files in order for 2.3.6 to work?
Not saying there is anything wrong, just trying to understand if deodexing is optional or required for something that I am not aware of?
