So, i was checking popsci and i found this article. Popsci usually has very little to do with computers, mobile devices, ect, so their readers are normally total tech noobs, while being fairly smart about other sciency stuff. The article talks about ROMs, rooting, and, in teh comments, there are shoutouts to XDA! pretty cool, IMHO.
