OK I just flashed this. Ignore anything I said about lag. This now looks optimized for our system, compared to the previous version. A lot more was changed since the original release.

I think it runs more smoothly than with GB.

On a side note I can't get USB mass storage or ADB to work with my PC. Anyone else have this problem?

Does anybody notice that the vibration when receiving a text is unbelievably low? Or is just me? I'm trying to get to the bottom of this. By the way great job jt!!

In dev tools there is a box in one of the menus that has "wait for debugger"....check that and reboot adb worked then can't remember if mass storage did.
I did the adb devices during start up and it link and I pulled a logcat out too

Does anyone know if the newest build fixes the home button?

It does indeed.

Things I've found that are broken:

-Data
-Camera
-Voice Search/Recording (Evernote, at least.)

I also had some pretty horrendous lagginess when first setting up, but after a reboot, it went away and stayed away.

Back on Eclipse as my daily because I need those three things to make the switch, but it was a pretty great experience otherwise. DEFINITELY excited about the progress jt has made.

I attempted to make use of the legacy USB manager to avoid having to update the kernel drivers, but this doesn't seem to work correctly since the kernel lacks a USB switch. Usually after a few reboots adb works, or you can start it manually using the built in terminal. Mass storage has to be started in terminal also. Ex: echo '/dev/block/mmcblk1p1' > /sys/devices/platform/usb_mass_storage/lun1/file

Vibration is weird...I hacked some debug into the kernel that can fix it, curious whether it works in the kernel I released.

echo 1 > /sys/class/vibetonz/immTest/immTest

That fixes it with the debug kernel module, if it works with the kernel I released then chalk it up to one more thing Samsung left out of their shipped source code. Either way it'll be resolved in any future releases.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately the cell reception is very low compared to TW so I can't use the ROM to test it.

Voice search worked for me too. One interesting thing I found though is that in the old build, you could go into the camera and get a black picture. You could then switch to the front facing camera, which worked. On this build the camera app force closes so you cant use FFC at all.

Wow ATM I using this rom and it's crazy smooth. Way smoother than GB. I have yet to see any lag. I will be using this rom till Friday so if anyone has questions feel free to ask and ill check..jt is a beast for hookin us up with this flavor of Android

Btw: I was on eclipse 1.3 (rfs not ext 4) and when I flashed it never booted up. So I Odin danalo all in one Odin w/ IMO 4.0 kernel and made sure it was on ext 4. I then flashed ICS and it booted up real quick. Quick question: what recovery should I flash so I can't go back to my recovery of eclipse 1.3 with no problem?

I'm not going to clean the post history, as some people need reminders of just how stupid they sound. But I will start banning anyone who continues to harass developers. Final warning.

Mod Edit: Github to track progress

    http://t.co/goZfHAYs Straight from JT1134's twitter ( @_jt1134_ )

CM9 ICS AlphaBeefaroni for the Droid Charge from TeamHacksung : the most unsupported ROM ever created

    ROM - http://www.mediafire.com/?c45wga90hjmxtvc
    Google apps - http://www.multiupload.com/D07OVCSB9G

    Instructions:
    * make a backup of your current ROM, if you're a pansy like that
    * WIPE DATA (DUH)
    * flash the ROM (DUH)
    * mount system under mounts & storage, then flash Google apps
    * reboot into a ridiculously early build of ICS/CM9 for the Droid Charge

If it doesn't boot the first time, boot back into recovery, and repeat the steps above.

If you find a bug...keep it to yourself! Don't ask me how to fix it, you already saw yourself that it doesn't work, right?

    For the haters: http://kan.gd/1e1t :-O

    Enjoy. Or don't. I don't care.

    Signed, with <3, jt1134

I'm pretty sure the only things not working are bluetooth, the youtube app, the radios, the camera (which i haven't seen working in nearly every other ICS ROM for every other phone), and the home button (which doesn't matter much because you can just use the back button).

I know that EGL (hardware acceleration) is working, wifi is working, the screen, sdcard, all google apps and basically every thing else you can think of.

It is really great how much is working, especially considering that this is a first build. Thanks JT!

JT IS NOT YOUR PERSONAL BABYSITTER SO DON'T GO WHINING TO HIM WHEN YOU FIND AN ISSUE, OR THE ROM CAUSES A NUCLEAR WAR (which it might because of how amazing it is).

Because JT1134 is so AMAZING, here is his donation link so you can add to his beer fund. If you liked this ROM or any other mod or tweak that JT has created, please donate him. Or even if you didn't try out any of his ROMs, donate anyway because he makes some amazing stuff!

    I'm only stating the obvious.

As the only person who has yet contributed code to this project, along with ~12 hours of my personal free time, for a device I don't even use mind you, I reserve the right to say whatever I want to trolls or those who wish to downplay my efforts. Deal with it. Trolling or otherwise unhelpful posts are less than useless.

In short: contribute, or stfu already!

Dirge, have you been to irc? That is the true tale of the development scene.

Yes, we have been blessed lately with some nice work.

To stay on topic, my issue with this ROM is that it was labelled unsupported and JT quoted a post of mine and said donate for him to support it.

The mods were kind enough to erase that post showing the true tone of the purpose of this ROM.

You guys have made good points in the dev's defense but it still bothers me that donate was said about something the dev slapped together with little intention of working on.

It can be spun any way you want to in the dev's favor but this is what it looks like to someone that is impartial meaning- I use and enjoy the stock ROM and don't need custom ROMs or the like.

I never once asked for donations, you can't find the post because it never existed, so stfu already.

I shared everything I had and was very open with expectations, etc. Others with more free time than I have taken it and ran, which is the whole point of open source.

If you would like to *prove* any of these stupid accusations of yours, please post one shred of evidence. I'll leave my reputation as a developer and my contributions to the community as my proof that you're full of ****.

jt never posted this rom on a forum, and it wasnt exactly intended for mass consumption

so any negativity based upon is unfounded, and shows the lack of background knowledge that many on forums have

there is an ever growing divide between developers and the avg forum user....mainly due to the sense of entitlement that many seem to feel for a) donating a few bucks b) having previously been a cheerleader for a certain dev or group or c) just because

i dont care if you donated $100 to a rom or kernel dev, you dont own them, at the end of the day if you ran the numbers of donations / hours spent the math would never justify anyone working on stuff....developers do what they do because they like it...and if they decide to stop working on a particular project or a particular phone...well then so be it

jt has been the single most important person in the cdma samsung world for over a year and a half...no one can or should dispute that its just a fact...
brief highlight real for the uniformed/stupid: every single important kernel/aosp/rom highlight for the i500 phones, pretty much same for 3g galaxy tab, got the charge initial recovery and lagfix w/o the phone as well as booted gb and ics aosp...and lets not forget that the epic 4g aosp work uses most of everything he did

if you are unhappy with something in regards to the development of an os, rom, feature, or whatever on your phone...heres an idea: learn to program yourself and stfu
