I believe you're using an APN for WAP, that is a different (lighter) protocol that only works through the browser.

Try to configure the rigt APN for your carrier for proper mobile internet in EDGE, 3G, HSDPA, etc.

Yes they do, it's not enabled yet because we never needed it.
Please do some research before stating crap.
