Kang is an android build with which the source code is taken from another developer. All ROMs not made by Google are per definition KANG's.

errors while searching network on 3G
I started to root my N1 when the power button start to fail. What I need is just a stable ROM with track ball wake. CM 7.1 has been a nice fit. However, I have been having problem with error while searching network when with 3G. The network icon showing "H", but no download is possible. On the network icon (above H), I see up link activities but not down link activities. I cannot make or receive call during this time even though signal strength is full. This usually happen at certain location, which I suspect the error only happen to certain 3G network type. I am with Maxis in Malaysia, which is GSM network. upgrading to CM7.2 and tried Kang but doesn't help. Anyone know any ROM with better 3G network stability?

From the CyanogenMod Q&A:
Quote:

Q: What is the full form of KANG and what does KANG stand for?
A: To make a long story short: many moons ago, there was this guy with a nickname similar to "kang", who
became the first instance of someone blatantly taking CyanogenMod's source code, rebuilding it, and calling it his
own. During the ensuing discussion, his handle got morphed as "Kang", and "kanged" became an inside joke
reference to the act of "copying CyanogenMod's source with no attribution". The usage of the 'word' evolved over
time to mean, simply, "CyanogenMod derivative" (which we define as "anything built from CyanogenMod source
that isn't an official build", including our own personal builds).

There seems to be too much to try. Do you think its ROM or kernel issue? Thanks for the reply.

seems to be a ROM issue. each rom gives you a different look and feel.
you can try different kernels first. but remember to backup

So i think the best way to describe the roms i have used is to match them with cars.

Cm7 is like a volvo, very stable and reliable, but very boring.

MIUI is like a old purple painted peugeot full of apple stickers. There's nothing wrong with it, but you cant get yourself to drive it. (at least icant)

Sense is like one of the best looking bmws, extremely cool and everything, but that is until you find out that it only has a 70 HP Diesel engine, so it is very slow.

ICS Is like an electric car. Very innovative, very nice development, but it is still a wip and buggy.

Ill stick with cm7 unntil ics is done.
