HTC and Battery life

Just learnt the lumia 800 battery update has tripled battery life...how I wish.
If an update can be pushed to boost battery life, what is my OEM HTC not doing anything especially for HTC HD7?? The phone is a good phone but has a poor battery life. We need OEMs that care about it's customers. Please help....any HTC worker out there??

i installed the Intrinsic custom rom and my battery life for HD7 has doubled. at least on standby...
