It looks like it operates the same way as the stock dock except it comes with that hands free kit built into it..

I have the Version car mount. What I noticed is that it does not charge the battery and the phone gets HOT. I'm read reports of over 120 degrees and I believe it was at least that hot. I followed some links on this thread and tried to modify the circuit board but that board is really small. You'll need some tiny soldering equipment to do it. I just drilled removed the circuit board and drill out the hole to allow the car charger USB to fit through the hole. I used a 1/2 inch bit and my drill press. You have to go very slow or you will break something. The phone now charges and isn't nearly as hot.

As noted in this thread, if you have one of the models that only reports as a USB device, you can contact ibolt and get an updated replacement for free.
