Hey all, would anyone like an updated version of this? I'm going through all of my past projects right now looking for optimizations (which this one needs a lot haha) and wondered if this is something the community would like! Let me know and I'll have a new and better version out soon!
It is locking up at the "running exploit" screen. After every time I attempt I flash back to stock just incase, so at this point I am running .6 stock.
This seems like the only rooting method that does not require rom manager to flash the recovery. I can't seem to get rom manager to work.

I will get a working version out soon, I think I know exactly why it's doing that. I need you to run something for me and post the results. It has to do with how I checked for root. Now that I have written my .NET device management library, I should be able to implement it easily into this. I just need you to run a program I just wrote so I can get one detail about the stock hero .6 operating system if you don't mind. It just runs the adb shell id command, and includes adb and the required dlls in the exe so you don't have to set anything up, just run it. It creates a file called RegawMOD.log in the same directory that you ran the exe in. Can you post the log file here as an attachment for me to look at? Thank you, as I don't have access to a Hero anymore. Check your pms for the password to the exe. This is made specifically for you.

I got this same error when trying today on a PC with Windows XP. Sorry, i don't have access to my logfile at the moment. But, I can get it.
I've rooted with the Z4Root app in the past, but i later got S-OFF (via ENG bootloader), but my HBOOT would never recognize any hercimg.zip files, no matter what I did. So, i RUU'd back to stock and figured i'd try this rooting method (and unrevoked S-OFF) to see if it makes a difference.

I'm actually working on this today since I finished my .NET library 2 days ago, hopefully coming out with Hero Rooter 2.1 by the end of the day.
