Redness in the bottom left corner

Hi,

My father got a Samsung Galaxy Ace, and with the stock Vodafone ROM, in the bottom left it was all red. I thought it was some weird branding, so I put on CM7, and its still there. This is after a complete wipe and flash!!

Also, when I boot, its not there, however, on boot there is a blue on in the top right!!!

So the chain of events:
Turn on - blue corner in top left
Android splash screen - nothing in any corner
CM7 boot up animation - nothing in any corner
Launcher loads - Red corner in bottom left

I've attached a screenshot. Can anyone tell me if this is some sort of software thing or maybe a hardware issue?
