You're doing an awesome job here!
Thanks for doing what you're doing
I exchanged my HTC Desire Z with this Xperia Arc for the USB Host feature, now to find out that I can't use it the way I planned...
The thing is I want to write an app that communicates with a USB sensor (barometric pressure ). I fly hanggliders and it would be neat to have a variometer in a phone!.
I connect it to the phone (via OTG) , the OS recognizes it's name and dmsg even prints the manufacturer, device id, serial# etc.
Programatically, as an application developer, I'm not notified that the sensor is connected to the phone and that's because there seems to be a whitelist of 'allowed' manufacturers/devices...
This can be changed in the kernel by adding a line in the
Code:
drivers/usb/core/sec_whitelist.h
header file so that any device would be whitelisted.
Or
otg_whitelist.h
s3cotg_whitelist.h
sec_whitelist.h
Would you mind including this change in your kernels from now on? I don't see a harm in doing it
Like this (changed and tested by Dan -here's the blog he explains it
http://blog.teadriven.me.uk/2011/09/...oid-phone.html ):
Code:
{ USB_DEVICE_INFO(0xff, 0x0, 0x0) }, /* vendor specific USB devices */
Or like this:
Code:
--- a/drivers/usb/core/sec_whitelist.h 2011-07-24 01:04:27.010195956 -0400
+++ b/drivers/usb/core/sec_whitelist.h 2011-07-24 02:04:11.370910739 -0400
@@ -33,6 +33,8 @@
/* PTP camera*/
{ USB_DEVICE_INFO(USB_CLASS_STILL_IMAGE, 1, 1) },
{ USB_INTERFACE_INFO(USB_CLASS_STILL_IMAGE, 1, 1) },

On top of that, I can't unlock my bootloader even if I had an updated kernel to use - sucks...
I heard there were some guys remotely unlocking bootloaders but I'm in a different timezone (Canada).
Thanks for taking the time to read this...

hello guys,
i have pushed the Official kernel sources and ramdisks for various Xperia 2011 devices to my github account... to keep the various FW versions at same place i have created branches for each kernel/ramdisk... i think this will help other dev/advance users as they can now easily get all relevant files at one place and easily compare changes in firmware sources...
Xperia-2011-Official-Kernel-Sources
(INCLUDES THESE FW VERSIONS)
Xperia-2011-Official-Ramdisks

i will try my best to keep those sources updated
