Thuis is not true. You can just open it in winrar and change the icon.png.

Exactly! I always make themes in the compile form but if it's for editing xmls or .9.pngs, then yes, decompiling is needed....

ok pop quiz everyone!

ive just been into the framework res file changing the battery icon, ive gone to put my edited one into the file but because the permissions werent set correct its now stuck at the boot logo and wont let me back in. how can i change the permission without getting into my phone?

Boot into recovery, go to advanced and then fix permissions. This will change the permissions to their correct settings

did you make a update.zip? or did you just move it with Root Explorer? cause normally, an update.zip wont cause any problem.....

I moved it with root explorer. Massive mistake! Fixing permissions didn't work Coz its part of the framework I messed up. Never mind reflashed now anyway. Thanks for the zip update tip! I'll do that next time.

I'm not a dev, but this link shows the color palette of ICS. Maybe that helps you

Depending on what i'm doing, i either use gimp, greenfish or very rarely photoshop, but im a bit scared of photoshop, too many buttons lol
