I have had the same problem. I would try the Aokp rom. Build 30. Build 31 drained my battery.

Set plugins to On demand. This works for me.
HTC One X (Stock Android 4.0.4)
Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Stock Android 4.2)
LG Nexus 4 (Stock Android 4.2)
Asus Nexus 7 (Stock Android 4.2)
Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 3G (Stock Android 4.0.4)
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 3G (Android 4.1.2 AOSP ROM)

For me it's also the flash plugin making trouble. As suggested setting it to on demand helps.

When the browser stops loading, close all tabs, exit to the homescreen and whipe the browser from the recent apps list. This helps sometimes and sometimes you have to do it twice but the browser should start working again.
