I see there are a lot of newbies here who don’t seem to know there are a LOT of nice resources here at XDA-Devs; for example, my articles, guides, Bibles, roundups, tutorials. I have answered at least ten posts today and yesterday simply pointing to folks to my existing articles on the matter they asked about, which certainly showed this is the case.
First, in the XDA-Devs Wiki ( http://wiki.xda-developers.com/ ), my articles are at the bottom in a separate group, nicely ordered into separate categories so that you’ll quickly find everything you want; follow http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=FindPage (I recommend full text search the most) to quickly search the Wiki.
Most of my articles are in the Wiki but two things should be kept in mind:
1. there’s always a little latency between my posting the article and making it available in the Wiki. (Because it takes a lot of effort to convert them to the Wiki format; therefore, I prefer doing these conversions in a batch, say, once every month so that I can reduce the workload.)
2. Also note that the markup of some of these articles (mostly italic / bold stuff and tables) may be messed up. Sorry – because there are hundreds of articles, I just don’t have the time to fix them all. If you run into an article that is rendered almost useless because of this, go for either the forum post version or the one posted on my blog (both linked below).
Another source of my articles is the General forum at http://xdaforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=256 . You will want to use the Advanced Search ( http://xdaforums.com/search.php ) to find all the stuff I’ve ever posted to there. To quickly find my stuff, enter “Menneisyys” to “User Name:” in addition to entering your search expression to “Key Word(s):”. Note that these articles are, generally, better-formatted than the ones in the Wiki but, because of the 10k/4-picture limitation, may be broken up into several parts, which may severely hamper their readability.
Finally, if you’re looking for a specific category / subject like Web browsers or Emulation only without knowing any exact search keyword, you can read the related articles much more easily on my blog at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/cms/index.php?q=blog . To see the category structure, you may want to see http://www.pocketpcmag.com/cms/taxonomy/vocabulary/23 . Also note that articles posted before 06/2008 may have formatting problems, which mostly applies to inline tables. If that’s the case, you’ll want to check out the blog under the old blog engine: at http://www.pocketpcmag.com/old_blogs . That is, if you see an article that has messed up tables or absolutely no line breaks, make sure you head over to http://www.pocketpcmag.com/old_blogs to read the same article – with the right formatting. (Sorry for this problem: we’ve recently migrated the blog content to the new engine and, so far, as there’re thousands of articles I’ve written, I haven’t had the time to fix all these problems.)
