Edit: just looking at the framework files and it seems there might be a conflicts with the color scheme hence the issue with black texts going to have a mess and see what happens.

Edit: now recompiling the framework with the mods by copying the MIUI items over to the main framework file.

Right the Black On Black issue is defo Theme based, only thing is the theme in question needs framework mods to ensure everything is in the correct place and size.

So people please test theme 5390323.mtz its the first theme on the rom icons will go big i know of that but test your apps that have Black on Black issues and report back!

Are you using the correct framework for (bak)smali ?

Yeh looks like either your not setup properly or the framework isn't loaded.

I use apkmanager (for the ui and simpler commands) for de/recompiling most things but if i run into problems with it i switch to apktool and do it all manually, its quite simple once you get the hang of it.

I don't know the tool you're using but does it have an option something like -if framework-res anywhere.

I mostly use apktool because its really simple and works most of the times. You can visit this link http://code.google.com/p/android-apktool/ and download the apktool-install-windows-r04-brut1.tar.bz2 and apktool1.4.3.tar.bz2 files or directly download the files needed for the apktool to work from the attached rar that i uploaded. Now unrar the archives if you downloaded from the link or if you downloaded my apktool.rar, unrar it and create a folder in your C:\ drive called apktool or in any other place in your drive but i suggest in C:\ you'll see why. Now in this folder place the three files that you extracted but also, place the framework-res.apk and framework-miui-res.apk. Open up the command prompt and navigate to the folder that you placed all these files if you did like i said in C:\ just type in the command prompt cd C:\apktool where apktool is the folder with your files in. Now type apktool if framework-res.apk and hit enter and do the same for the framework-miui-res.apk. You will get something like framework-res.apk installed on location blablabla. If you dont get this message you did something wrong, post here to help you. Now to DECOMPILE an apk just type apktool d framework-res.apk and hit enter. d stands for decompile. Now a folder named framework-res will be created with all the smali and xml files you want to edit To build back your apk just type apktool b framework-res . BUT REMEMBER you have navigate to the folder where you placed the files of the apktool, for the apktool to work.

Ok, so i've made a few more small changes to the launcher and icons to try and make the folders look a bit better. This is what i've done so far. To install the launcher copy this file http://db.tt/bcG73kXg to /system/app with a file manager i.e root explorer, then delete the old launcher and rename this file to Launcher.apk set permissions to rw-r--r-- and owner to root/root.

After this copy this icon pack http://db.tt/V4k4zh18 to /system/media/theme/default delete the old icons and rename this to icons, make sure theres no extension names it should be just icons and not icons.zip .mtz or anything else. Set permissions the same as the launcher above then reboot.

The folders and widgets should fit a little better but don't expect miracles from me........

Scratch nice work. Will add it to B3 if this works.

I now have no errors other then mem errors and fc erros show. whoot whoot.

So as far as the base is concerned its almost ready just need a decent kernel from sym when he has time and then some .apk resizing and bug fixing and we are there.


Edit1: Scratch the folder is still slightly offline the gap between text it greater the the icons otherwise it would fit perfectly. Other then that, there is now a load of icons and they do look good with the shadow effect. The skull works well as well!
