no lights or something else? or is hanging at the Sony Ericsson Logo?

When nothing happens you have bricked your phone you can search for methodes to unbrick the phone if that is possible with X1 (I know it is working with HTC LEO).

When it is hanging at the SE Logo or lights turn on, then remove battery, than insert it again, press power button and camera button until you get to the three color screen (bootloader) then you can connect it to your pc and flash a Custom ROM, you find how in the General Section or ROM Section (don't know exactly)

so it is battery, keep the phone pluged in to charger for a while.

Doesn't work, power button bright red only on changer/usb...
