Error Flashing Recovery

tried flashing the CWM 5.0.2.3 recovery.. didn't work
here's the steps i did

Terminal Emulator
su
cd /sdcard
unzip cwm-5.0.2.3-liberty.zip
flash image_recovery cwm-5.0.2.3-liberty.img

No, someone told me that would work with S-ON
I wanted to restore to Stock and upgrade to the new Hboot and everything (still using .57)
But when I use the stock updater it just says USB connection error 170

You need to have S-OFF to write to recovery partition.

You can try installing the AT&T 2.2.2 update using this alternative method explained here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=145
