Ok. I didn't get your post then. You mean that while connected through UMS you can't access the directory in the phone, not on the PC. I don't remember how it worked in GB nor have it running now on ICS. Let's see if someone else can confirm.

Sorry to switch topics a little bit but did anyone here using Directory Bind go through with the new Bionic software update to version 5.9.904? I would just like to know if you had any problems doing so, if you kept your root status and if all Directory Bind links were still working afterwards?

Just wondering...thanks.

Thank you for your reply. On PC I have no access to the directory which should be mounted.
But if I look with filemanager on the android device I have access to /emmc with all files, like in the normal view. So it seems that it is NOT mounted.
The path /sdcard is not visible, because it is hidden due to the UMS connection.
So this might be the reason why it can not be mounted...
On GB we had the default cofiguration, that the inserted SD card was accessible as /SDCard/external_sd/. So it was accessible as USB drive. Now in ICS it is outside in /emmc/. Unfortunately the USB connection seems to interrupts the access for Android to /SDCARD. So the "dump logcat" function can not write into the file directorybind_logcat.txt during usb connect.

I have deinstalled the adbtranfer tool for Windows and the myphonexplorer client on PC. Both did not help.

I still don't get you then...

You want, in your PC and through the mounted drive, access the data in the external sdcard? You should have two units mounted in Windows. The internal SD and the external SD.

This software only solves the (internal) access to Android applications, not from PC.

Don't know how your ROM works but with CyanogenMod 9 when you enable UMS you can't access anymore the units from the phone so it's logical that DirectoryBind can't maintain the bind anymore.

I think you need to use MTP to be able to retain the bind.

Let me know if what I say it's understandable.

Yes, I came from MTP where everything is ok. The discussed application mounts /emmc to /sdcard/external_sd and is accessable from PC in MTP Modus.

I found the SakaschiMod the best for me, because it is a mix from CyanogenMod9 with the AOKP moddings and including Samsung framework to use the "Samsung Apps" market application.

Here I tested the USB connect function, as an alternative method which is more common to new users which love to have their SD card as Drive Icon in Windows. When plugging to Windows one drive is installed for the internal "Sd Card" . When disabling "USB debugging" a new driver is installed for the inserted "external SD card", if you plug the device to a Windows PC USB Port.
Also a second Drive Icon is displayed on Windows Explorer.
But if you click "connect USB to PC" on android the firmware only connects to the first "drive" which is the internal 12 GByte Memory of the S2.
If I click the second "drive" Windows says "insert a disk".
It seems to me that the external SD card is not accessible via this method (at the moment)
So I guessed hat the software "Directory Bind" could be able to mount the SD Card even in this connecting method. But now I have learned that is not possible.
I had not tested with naitve CyanogenMod9 or stock ICS, if this firmware Version give access to the inserted SD Card in USB mode (UMS).
Best greetings
Ralf

It should be accessible. At least in CyanogenMod 9 build 20120414 it is (and a lot of previous versions after UMS was enabled as well). Did you originally format the card from inside Android OS or from Windows as FAT32?

You won't be able to use DirectoryBind with UMS (the alternative to MTP) as the control of the mount points is lost inside the OS while given to the PC. You should try to find the issue with you not being able to read the MicroSD from inside Windows.

Hi.
Once the entry has been binded, you can forget about it, and it will be automatically set upon reboot.too.

Just to be clear, my i9000 on ICS has 2 sdcards - the internal card and the external kingston card.

ICS put the internal card at /mnt/sdcard and the external card at /mnt/emmc (but also /emmc)

Many apps don't recognise /mnt/emmc so I thought I'd do a simple:

ln -s /mnt/emmc /mnt/sdcard/external_sd

but it's access denied even though I have remounted the volume(s) as rw etc.

I could start messing with fstab but then I saw this. However, it won't let me link /mnt/sdcard/external_sd to /mnt/emmc

Bitmit is like ebay Refer to each phone by it's model name where possible - i.e. "i9000", not "Galaxy S"
