Just want to say thanks Chasmodo.
After the mass brick incident I refrained from flashing ICS, CM9, AOKP and AOSP.
Will give CM9 a try till we get official ICS from Slowsung

Please...The_Steph and other guys willing to flash to ICS this way:

don't deviate from the procedure.

ICS kernels have the frailest of roots possible, and it won't hold if you try to use shortcuts.

matius44, chasmodo,

Had to flash the LC1 repack using Mobile ODIN to regain root on ICS. Once done, flashed successfully Stunner 1.4.19 and LP6 rooted kernel repack and still have root privileges.

I am now restoring all my apps using Titanium backup.

Finally, after more than 5 days without root I can properly enjoy my Note

Thanks for your help.
The_Steph

My Find 7a is using latests Nameless ROM stripped to the bone, latest TeamWin's Recovery Project TWRP recovery and an exFAT formatted SanDisk 64GB SDXC card
HTC Artemis -> HTC Polaris -> HTC Blackstone -> HTC Leo -> HTC Ace -> Samsung Galaxy Note -> Samsung Galaxy Note II -> Oppo Find 7a

And if what I wrote helped you, be kind... click on Thanks button

Starting from rooted LB1 I did all specified steps.

In particular CWM 5.0 freeze on flashing Abyss4.2. I had to flash 3.9 before, do recovery reboot and then flash Abyss4.2.

However I successfully installed ICS Criskelo but lost root.
Tried also to flash supersu zip file you indicated without any success (to flash this I had to flash Abyss4.2 again because ICS Criskelo re-installed CWM 5.0).

Waiting for other ideas..

- Flash one of these prerooted ROMs and inject corresponding CF Root Kernel

- put Abyss4.2 and your ICS ROM in sdcard

- go to recovery, flash AbyssNote4.2

- reboot to recovery from advance

- flash your ICS ROM
Thanks a lot chasmodo, great friends are rare these days

I'm surprised at the number of people saying that their CWMR froze while flashing AbyssNote 4.2. The only thing I can think of is that their AN 4.2 download was corrupted?
CWMR freeze during kernel flashing procedure, now that's something new to me, except if you didn't have full root in the first place, especially on GB.
Try to redownload AbyssNote 4.2 from the OP, please.

chasmodo,

Having suffered it, I would say that CWM freezing is a sign of root lost then!
