Correct, but the result is that the stock kernel becomes something like an unencrypted second-stage bootloader. You can attach a custom recovery to it, use the non-stock kernel to flash unofficial firmware, and so on.

Would love to test this out, but until Fastboot files are available I'm playing it safe.

Kexec is actually one of the safest possible things to try. If the new kernel fails, a regular reboot will get you back onto the original.

We use it all the time on XDAndroid to quickly switch between kernels.

I went to your site to download it, had to register, but for some reason it won't. It says "The registration code did not match the one displayed, a new code has been generated, please try again"

it could be my work laptop not showing something else, but i filled in all of the fields on the page

So, I am not too familiar with how much development can progress with this new kernel, but does this pave the way to getting CM9/AOKP/Gummy going with video codecs? If not, is our hardware that different from the RAZR that its ICS codecs do not work? Also, what about the radio from the new ICS leak?

Or, are we still waiting on drivers/codecs specific to the Droid 4 ICS version for this, in other words, are we still waiting on a leak for this?
