Again, it's not the matter of the "radio" per sé, rather if the phone itself knows what to do with the radio...
Going back to the whole FM/HD FM example...Here in Chicago B96 (96.3Mhz) is a huge station. With a standard radio...it can tune to 96.3 just fine, but even though the HD signal is there as well on the same frequency, the radio doesn't know how to interpret it...mostly because of the different channel spacing and modulation type.
What am I trying to say? Well, once T-Mo gets their 900 Variant, we get to (hopefully) flash our radios/SW (kinda like the Skyrocket owners do) and have a functioning phone.
