If you know exactly what to type, you can use the former, uncommenting all and changing values to fit your needs. Otherwise, you can use the latter, uncommenting 6 options: awake/sleep governors and min/max for each one.
But if you like profile "1" ( awake = smartassv2 254760 - 1209600; sleep = powersave 122880 - 254760), just change profile number at step 1 to "1".
It's strange you get correct values in /etc/virtuous_oc and not in /sys.
I remind you to check /sys when your phone is sleeping. Otherwise your system will always show you awake configuration.
By the way, with my phone 01broodrom works quite well!
