Oh, my god...

A version lower than hboot1.50 is required to carry out a downgrade...

I understood. I appreciate your cooperation.

Thank you!!

If it DOES work, it would be interesting to see if it works for other devices using different device bootloaders, to put them into an S-OFF state that would otherwise be normally impossible. But this would only be for HTC as bootloaders are signed by HTC differently than other manufacturers of course.

Default Can't brick

I have done everything to the bricking step.
I get into hboot 1.5 and it checks the .zip file
and eventually says volume up to update (I have let my phone sit for up to 15 minutes in this state)
I remove the battery cover, plug in my htc charger (I have 3 and have tried all 3)
Then I remove the battery and press the Volume up button, but every time the phone simply shuts off immediately after pressing the volume up button.

Is there something else I should try?

A different power source (outlet in the house, or another location), cable or adapter. Your phone is shutting off because it's not getting enough power.

The only other thing you can try other than that is to pull the battery at the right time during the update rather than using the AC cord to do so, it's harder to get that timing correct though...

Hmm, I was plugged into 2 different circuits, bedroom and living room, but I will try the kitchen after my son is done at tball. Would it be necessary to put the battery back in after pulling it out if I have to resort to that method?

Only to check the brick status.

If it's bricked it won't boot of course and it will likely still have the dim battery light.

Then you only put the battery back in after the downgrade/linux part is complete.

Looks like I going to have to pull the battery. I was plugged into one of my kitchen circuits and the same thing happened. One other thing (not sure if it is relevant) my battery light isn't coming on at all when I am in HBoot. Just battery, just a/c, or battery and a/c. The light just isn't on at all.

Do you have a car charger? Those things tend to put out enough juice. You don't need a pc until It's bricked anyway.

It's not supposed to.

Either way The only reason it turns off is that it's not getting ENOUGH power to stay on. The HTC Chargers output slightly more power than "normal" chargers, like samsung and whatnot.

Anyways, the battery pull will work just the same, it's just going to be a little more difficult to time, because you can't kill it quite as instantly like you can with a cord pull. But all the same, just use two hands and be ready to slap the battery out at the right time, that's all.

This phone seriously hates me...I tried using my car charger, and I did the battery pull after 5 seconds...still boots. It did mess something up though. It goes through the HTC loading screens and gets to the Sprint loading screen with the 4 buttons at the bottom lit up, but it doesnt want to load the OS...yay me Any suggestions on where to go from here
